  • Sell in May and Go Away? [View article]
    Pranav,

I'm looking at the BHP trade plan. I have yet to find out if I made a mistake on the sell entry prices. Maybe I made a mistake. If so, sorry for that. I'll try to find out again what the chart was showing for the sell entry prices. Maybe my chart data was flawed. I do believe its getting time to pull the sell trigger, but it takes time for the spring to wind up and then unload.

  • Bullish on Brazil [View article]
Both comments above so right. My timing may be off also. With the market looking like its topping and Goldman Sachs going in front of Congress today, my Brazil ADR picks might tank with the rest of markets as Asia and Europe did today. Oh well, take the stop-loss, and re-evaluate later at lower prices.

  • Short Selling CME Group [View article]
Currently sitting on a one day 3% gain on CME short-sell position. We see 160 coming shortly, and if the downtrend continues as we see it doing, 153 to 147. If 146.88 breaks, we see next target 134 to 128. Current price 178.48.

  • The Short Case for Nustar Energy [View article]
The reason why we are shorting Nustar is our low-risk high-reward auto-trade trading model placed the trade. Short, intermediate, and long term there are trade opportunities long and short even on the same stock. We take advantage of the low-risk high-reward trades in the markets. If you want to be a long term investor in Nustar, to protect your long position, you might want to hedge it by shorting it, or selling calls or buying puts on it from time to time. This will put the risk reward ratio in your favor. Of course you would want a disciplined trade plan to execute positions like this to always have low-risk high-reward investing trading in your favor.

  • The Short Case for Nustar Energy [View article]
Very interesting and notable comment above about why we would go short on Nustar days before the ex-dividend that just hit yesterday Feb 3. Lots of reasons actually.

Main Answer: The news is already baked into the cake, and buying stocks for just the dividend play is not that great a way to earn money from stocks in our opinion especially in this current market.

Is investing in dividends theme is a strategy of last resort to somehow justify that its time to buy stocks for whatever reason?

Buying just for the dividend? What happens if the stock tanks more than the dividend?

We are expecting stocks to take another big hit to the downside anytime now. After that, we might consider buying into a dividend buy theme. The worst is yet to come right now, and just because stocks have been and are oversold relative to recent history does not make them a buy right now. Sentiment, fear, greed drive people to buy and sell stocks no matter who they are. The fundamentals don't work when the trend is your friend, whether to the upside or the downside.

Currently we are sitting on a 3.5% profit shorting NS. We shall see if we are rewarded with more or not. We saw this trade as a short-term low-risk high-reward position and so far we've been proven right. If we are wrong later on, we take small stop-loss and move on to the next buy or sell opportunity.

  • Too Much Optimism for Gilead Sciences? [View article]
From the looks of the comments here, looks like everyone is long. Good for you, GILD is a great stock to own long-term. Short-term there's always money to be made in the markets and GILD provided that quick fast money. Got stopped out on GILD. The next day re-entered short at 51.34 and excited the trade on last Friday at 47.51 for about a 7% profit. Looks like GILD is on its way back up short-term.

  • Six Myths about the Big Three [View article]
For Ford technically we are seeing a major 3rd wave of the down-trend ending for Ford, and now looking for a upside bounce to the 4th wave, then back down again into the 5th wave later on. The short term is an A B C looking to move to the upside.

For General Motors technically we are seeing a major 3rd wave down-trend ending for GM, and now looking for a upside bounce to the 4th wave, then back down again into the 5th wave later on. The intermediate term shows a ending 5th wave for a move to the upside.
