  • BioCryst: Peramivir Approval Opens Japanese Market [View article]
""We have to prepare ourselves to be able to supply 500,000 to 1 million doses by next March to April," Shionogi President Isao Teshirogi said at a Nov. 4 press briefing. The company expects to manufacture an annual supply for 3 million patients."

  • BioCryst: H1N1 Antiviral Partner Gets Fast Tracked for Japanese Review [View article]
An IV competes with an oral or inhaled drug in the ICU because people on ventilators need an immediate IV to knock out the H1N1 virus before their lungs scar or they get an opportunistic bacterial infection.

Of course I know the % of patients that can't swallow. About 200,000 people a year die from the flu, including about 36,000 in the U.S. in an average year. Every one of them can't swallow.

Are you so much smarter than Shionogi about Japanese culture and healthcare that you are sure their expectation to treat 3 million people on an outpatient basis is "stupid?" Are you able to figure out the royalty revenue flow to BCRX from those sales?

    Every shshshshshortseller should read caringbridge.org/visit...

Then look in a mirror and ask yourself what the heck you are doing on the wrong side of this trade.

Ooops, you forgot the Presidential pardon. This was 43 years ago, ancient history, and I wrote about it at length in my book. Old news.....

Against seasonal flu, all of peramivir's numbers were better than Tamiflu by a small amount. Intravenous administration is far better than five days of pills in hospitalized cases. And against H1N1, peramivir is twice as effective as Tamiflu or Relenza in vitro. But you already knew that...you just "forgot" to mention it.

The far larger number of people who bought at $3 to $4.50 are waiting for the Shionogi approval to destroy the naked shshshshshortsellers.

Great! Looks like Roche/Genentech will be the heavyweight international partner, approval on April 30 is 99.9%, and the technology will be applied to head & neck, breast and colon cancer with equally good results. $360, here we come....

I have deleted no comments on my message board, in spite of several subscribers asking for that. I decided not to issue press releases; I'll leave that to the company. This is a SeekingAlpha article.

It's more like "don't ask, don't tell." Peramivir's EUA is approved for swine flu only, but doctors do not have to test for H1N1 to use the drug if they think it will help the patient.
