Michael Pollick lives in Florida. He is interested in natural resource stocks -- gold, silver, platinum, palladium, uranium, oil shale, oil and gas -- and alternative energy stocks -- those involved in wind power, electric vehicles, ultra-capacitors and batteries, solar electric equipment and processes. Of all these, the group currently being most ignored by the market, and yet most essential to the planet's future, is uranium mining. On a global basis, nuclear power and hence uranium are a necessary response to global warming, at least for the next two-to-three decades and probably longer. Nukes provide energy without burning things. Augmented by solar power, nukes will enable a petroleum-free transportation system built around an emerging electricity storage method called the Ultra-Capacitor.

The logo shows "yellowcake," or uranium oxide. Once the uranium is mined and separated from ore, this is how it looks. Uranium is relatively abundant in the earth's crust, but finding economic deposits is a challenge. The companies that are finding and mining these deposits today, he believes, will make their shareholders rich. He maintains a blog on Silicon Investor called Discovery Board, where his pen name is ShootFirst.
