Basic investment philosophy is that there is no one approach that works all the time and that most investors will be best served by diversifying based on allocating to various investment strategies rather than seeking diversification via stock picking. Overall the best investment opportunities arise by taking advantage of mean regression in asset classes. That said, there are times when the markets are highly inefficient and even the prudent investor can take advantage of opportunities in individual stocks or industries.
