  • MIND CTI Is An Undervalued Goldmine In The Information Technology Sector And Ready To Explode [View article]
There is another $7.5 million above gross margin in cost of revenues which the company calls cost of services. That is likely 100% wage-related.

Assuming 75% of OpEx is wage-related, collectively wage expense is around $14 million, or $39k per employee. Doesn't seem unreasonable, I mean this isn't Silicon Valley. Monica Iancu was only making $180k/year (but a nice dividend stream), although it looks like it will be bumped to $240k this year. CEO's in US would garner salaries of at least $350k for comparable sized company.

Thanks for the research note. Certainly a fragmented market. Within a few blocks of Widmer, there are upstarts such as exnovobrew.com and eclipticbrewing.com. I tend to think Widmer doesn't have the best product anymore, but certainly developing a platform/distribution to drive sales.

Mark, thanks for this piece, just catching up now [and probably a bit late]. I'm curious if M&A will be a key piece to the story going forward? I've been long RDCM for awhile now, and it seems like their service assurance / customer experience management software in 4G LTE could be an attractive niche for KEYS.

Amazing how disposing of a legacy business causes a repricing of the stock. I'm involved in RSYS, another Portland based tech firm. They have very similar margin profile in the software business, and I'm expecting the growth rate to approximate RENT's from 2012 - 2014. Yet RSYS is only a $80 million company!

    100% conviction in Brian Bronson.

Look, the end markets for embedded products have been soft given the trend towards virtualization. Let's be honest, the Continuous Computing acquisition for $119 million was a disaster -- they brought in the CC CEO as CEO of RSYS and he had fundamentally different view as to how to create value. The Board let him go, and Brian has been executing remarkably well IMO -- opex is set to be $50 to $55 million (it was north of $100 million in 2012 when he took over as CEO) by reducing fixed overhead and focusing on key areas: MediaEngine, CellEngine, FlowEngine and ATCA platforms. The embedded biz should produce $15 million EBIT in 2015 -- that's 5x more than 2014 -- and a pretty sexy -- and free -- call option on the software biz.

Also, I wouldn't use GAAP EPS numbers. They are still running through like $15 million amortization for purchased intangibles due to the CC acquisition. I'd focus on cash flow and non-GAAP EPS.
