  • EIA Natural Gas Inventory +75 bcf [View news story]
Gas inventories are going to be very low going into the winter - prices should rebound nicely.

  • This Low-Cost Producer Can Return 20% In A Year [View article]
Its a free cash flow machine, going to continue to raise the dividend and buybacks for the foreseeable future. As long as they don't go crazy and buy a large competitor, I think this is a winner. I wish it had dropped so I could have bought more.

3 card monte to get oil from Canada into the US, even though its our largest trading partner. Doesn't make any sense.

  • Ending oil export ban would mean cheaper gasoline, Conoco exec says [View news story]
There hasnt been a new refinery built in the US in 40 years, that affects the price of refined products too. US consumers must compete with global consumers for refined products, which are allowed to be exported. We're sending record numbers of barrels of diesel and gasoline overseas everyday.

And I just paid $3.12/gallon for gas in central NJ, 32.9 cents of that goes to the state and federal government, and there's talk both nationally and locally about raising those taxes.

Why bother, use the cash to fund the drilling, not pay out 0.04%

Production should effectively double in the next 4 months. A cold streak this winter and they'll be minting money.

  • Get Short Eclipse Resources Corporation Before It's Too Late [View article]
Yea I just did some back of the envelope math based on selling the assets and agree that there's still a ways to go before this gets "cheap."

Looking forward to the next article.

Good call here, I was shocked to see the production numbers were as low as they were for a company of this size when I read through the earnings release last night. Should have listened to you on the short side.

  • Cramer eyes three consolidation candidates in transformed MLP landscape [View news story]
I've owned EPD for 5 or 6 years now, I personally think that either they need to increase the dividend much quicker, or its very over-valued. Not selling because of the tax implications, but I dont think the yield should be under 4%

Its only 1 trade in MHR, and REXX is down on hardly any volume, after only ticking higher for one trade. AH's today means nada in both names.

  • Rex Energy to acquire Appalachian Basin acreage from Shell for $120M [View news story]
YEa I mean it comes out to what, $500 an acre, probably less when you back out production. I just havent seen IP numbers or EURs that get me really excited about that area, especially when MHR GPOR AR RICE are putting on monster wells 50 miles south. Just my two cents. It certainly gets interesting if it gets back towards $12 tho.

Big acreage increase, IRR's there in the 30-40% range, which is good, but not fantastic.

  • Kinder Morgan deal risks unpleasant tax surprise for some investors [View news story]
If you had bought KMP for income in retirement, and planned on living off the income, you would not pay taxes on the income til you died. Since the transaction is forcing tax payments, a lot of people are going to get tax bills they weren't planning for, and they've going to be rather large tax bills.

Dozens of comments on SA yesterday that the devil was in the tax details, but the WSJ article doesn't go into it that in depth. I'd expect some of the larger unit holders to be a bit upset.
