Dia- You are wise my friend

People whom fall in love with their stocks like a cult (remember I write articles on Sirius as well so there is a GREAT example) tend to have a tough time making money. Why? They cannot adapt, which is the biggest key to making money. I personally have probably bought options on certain stocks (like SPY for example) as many times as I have purchased puts. You need to adapt and change on the fly, it seems like you get that, I wish that more did. By selling off a portion of your position, you lock in gains and (as you said) keep cash on hand in case an opportunity arises

Dia- YEs I see the article. What is missing from this particular article is the buying of options further out in conjunction with writing the covered calls. I have used and written that part of the strategy in the past, for some reason I did not include it in this article (see articles below to show I have used it)

    http://seekingalpha.co...

If the stock closes at the same price it is today next Friday, it will be close to a wash on the covered calls. If you had purchased options say for August at $630 in conjunction with writing the covered calls against the position, you would be in better shape. But again, it still needs to close at $600 or above next Friday or you pocket the premium.

  • 3 Big Reasons Apple's Ascent Will Slow [View article]
Gee Gary thanks so much.. I did not know you became my editor, overnight no less. There are 3 reasons which I listed: Competition, History, and Intangibles. They are all listed in bold and you only needed to count to three so I am sure you would not need a slide rule for that

"Oh, and #1 - competition having no where to go but up ? Common on - seriously "

Yes Gary Seriously, (and don't call me Shirley) do you not believe that 82% is quite a bit of market share? Do you believe it can go higher than that? Don't you think it has a better chance of going lower especially with the cost effective options out there?

Dia- Of course I am perfectly fine with defending my positions and also taking some credit when I am correct (we all do) I just found it very telling that many folks (not just you) decided to chirp up today and we very quiet all week :) have a good weekend

    Dia-

#1 how come all week you talked ZERO smack and waited 4 days until Apple had a bounce back day (in which the market was up 1.5% as a whole and Apple couldn't even keep pace at 1% so far) to bring your Xmas Cheer to the party?

#2 I do not know where I said Apple was going below $600 in July and staying there? Please advise where you saw that

Ken- First I do not have to keep publishing for any reason what so ever. I do not write to get "hits" nor do I need to. I write because I enjoy it much like I enjoy to play the market. As I mention in EVERY article I write, I am bullish on Apple. I have done my homework, I know who they are and who I think they can become, but I am bringing out a view that noone talks about. The fact that no matter how big you are, you still will see pullbacks, and if market conditions change you will pullback, especially with a stock growing at the %'s this one is!

Out I did mention in my point I hope that Apple retains 70% and that it would not change the amount of income they obtain from that %

Trad- Thanks for the comments. My point on the 3rd reason was that Apple will be part of a major market shift if the 4 "deadly sins" so to speak come to fruition

The pullbacks have happened to Apple (in a major way) the 2nd note was more based to combat the ridiculous assumptions that Apple will be at $1,000 before years end. As much as I want to see it as most of my readers are pro-Apple, I cannot see it growing that fast price wise

50% profit? I think most smart phones are making similar profits (less Google)

Jonig- I must be a pretty good guesser because the last 2 times I said Apple was headed for a pullback it did. The data showed it. By the way, ironic how I wrote 2 articles this week on Apple's pullback potential and how it was right on the edge and the price goes from a shade over $619 all the way down as low as $598. This could be the start of the 4th pullback I have been talking about
