  • Selecting Stocks For My Second Quarter Watch List [View article]
Bob - this the first time I've scrutinized one of your articles. Your "Wells model" is sensical and wells :) articulated. As a 61 year old investing for 30 years, I am taking your tactics to heart after my own due diligence.
Call it serendipity, but I see AMNF made your list. I am in deep after multiple purchases in tranches in October. I've spoken personally with management, wrote an SA article on the company, and remain very bullish despite being correctly overvalued by your metrics. Simply a prudent, well managed, tiny micro cap that actually is shareholder friendly. Overvalued ? I suppose but look what the Oracle of Omaha paid for ketchup on his beloved hamburgers. Pass the pesto !

  • Prospect Capital: Get Paid 12% Annually To Wait For 15% Upside [View article]
This article is completely sensical. Unfortunately Mr. Market is non-sensical. Like Brian, PSEC = 5% of portfolio.

Once a drunk, always a drunk. Once a stock hater, always a stock hater. Smug chowder man and self promoter Uncle Milty doing well this year. Once a stock lover, always a stock lover.....

Very sensical comment. Put premiums on solid companies can be an excellent cash alternative. I do this also but as you say it requires work. Lots of work. Nevertheless, great minds think alike....

  • Slim Pickin's Screening For Growth And Value Among Dividend Growth Stocks [View article]
Sorry for the shameless self promotion Gambit. Mea culpa.
That being said I have read your comments on Indian ADR's. Have you ever been to India ? I've been 16 times on business - did a project for TATA on their paint operations. Your uneducated comments on this company and the other ADR's are also ridiculous. If you haven't been to India and seen the rampant chicanery, then don't post comments as such. Thanks.

  • Icahn's Activism Prompts Transocean To Raise Dividend, But There Are Other Contract Drillers In The Sea [View article]
Article well articulated as usual EG. Seadrill = good drill. Did you take a look at AWLCF ? This North Sea driller picked up just 2 rigs from RIG on the cheap awhile ago. RIG had to sell them because there were some antitrust issues.
After running Portfolio123 one night using 6 metrics, AWLCF popped up. No need to list the usual caveats but wanted your wisdom. You write sensibly.

  • Awilco Is Ready For Substantial Earnings And Dividend Boost [View article]
Gravity needs to realize that bad storms can happen to ANY COMPANY - RIG had a sht storm in the gulf despite being well run. Even NE, a compelling buy is not immune to bad storms.
For the record, go to http://bit.ly/1hXdFDt and check on daily rig rates for the North Sea. For the semi-subs germane to AWLCF, recent daily rates are 310 British pounds or 500k dollars per day. So nightflarer makes a valid point.
BUT and a big but, usage demand is HARDENING not softening in the North Sea.

Try a taste of pesto. Take a looky look at AMNF, a little gem found using Portfolio123 stock screener. Wrote SA article on it 10/21. Pesto simple - basil, olive oil, garlic and optional pine nuts. A lot like ketchup, a favorite topping for Mr. Buffett on his beloved hamburgers. That's why he bought Heinz.....

Well written article Mr. S - just for completeness note a small Micro cap AMNF. I believe this 60MM market cap is very boring. As in Buffett boring. PEG meets your constraints as does dividend growth, beta,EPS. It's probably too small for your universe but worth a looky look. All about pesto sauce. Look what Buffett did for ketchup....

  • BDC Returns For Q3 2013: Part 1 [View article]
Despite the irritating "noise" from some constituents, this article provides fellow BDCers with a reasonable perspective between the healthy and ailing companies. Good info here as I have owned MAIN and PSEC for 4 years and they provide my portfolio with income to invest elsewhere. Keep up the info , it's appreciated.
