Perhaps it is a case of corporate anorexia...these companies purged so many expenses and their workforce that they looook maaaaavelous.. (remember Billy Crystal on SNL "It is better to loook good than to feel good?")

Great article Jonathan! you are right...one wonders why the average investor didn't play it more safe when we started seeing waves in the market. However, there is the CNBC factor, which keeps pumping up investor confidence, correctly or incorrectly...

Cramer's speaking style for his Wall Street Confidential has been very vividly hypothetical, and it is easy to get the wrong idea. He made it quite clear, early on that he was too visible a guy when he was a hedge fund manager and would never have gotten away with any wrongdoing. His candor should be reassuring.

I think Cramer is saying that the twelve stocks are "guilty by association" even if that association is tenuous. They seem to be lumped in together with the problem companies.
