    John, I don't think the derivatives players will go with that simply because it will make their losses visible (the derivatives that don't have a matching trade close to equity. It also will underscore than none of the players have the equity to back even a fraction of their commitments.

    It's a real real mess. Until people go bankrupt to sterilize the losses it will never end. Well maybe not never. 20 years may be enough or depreciating the dollar to $0.20 on the buck.
