Thank you for reading. I'm not up to 1200 yet but have been adding on dips with plans to eventually accumulate about that many.

  • Apple (AAPL) is indeed thinking of selling an iWatch, both the NYT and WSJ report. Sources claim Apple is experimenting with iOS-based watches made of curved glass, and has discussed the matter with Foxconn. If an iWatch ever arrives, there's a good chance it will use Corning's (GLW) Willow Glass, which was created with bendable displays in mind. Former Apple UI designer Bruce Tognazzini recently predicted an iWatch will arrive, while providing a long list of apps/services it might support. [View news story]
lets be realistic - an iphone is not a status symbol to someone that can afford a rolex (or audemars, etc)

This might be one of the worst articles I've ever read on SA. Typos, factual errors galore.

  • YouTube (GOOG) is planning to roll out paid subscriptions for individual channels, AdAge reports. The first channels, which could arrive by Q2, will reportedly cost $1-$5/month and feature a 45-55 revenue split; YouTube might also charge for content libraries and live events. The online video giant, which has invested plenty in professional content, has already hinted a subscription service could arrive. One unanswered question is how much TV channel and studio owners terrified of upsetting the pay-TV industry will play ball. [View news story]
that's not the point. the point is that you may pay a few hundred pennies for the ability to watch TV shows or movies that are currently not available on youtube...

  • Dell (if it happens) is just the start of an LBO boom, according to a group of P-E honchos holding court at Davos. With debt cheap, companies trading at reasonable multiples, and investors dying for yield, the pieces are in place. "There is so much money chasing yield," says Scott Minerd; $10B of debt entering the market from a Dell deal would be like spitting in the ocean. [View news story]

  • 2013: The Year Of The Buyout? [View article]
Now that Netflix is about 40% higher than when I wrote this article (for no good reason, in my opinion) the chance of a takeover just went from "unlikely" to "not gonna happen."

  • Apple: 7 Reasons Shorts Can't Sleep At Night [View article]
Exactly. The title is very ridiculous and inexplicable hostile towards people that have recently made a lot of money.

If anything, it's the margined longs who bought a "can't lose" stock at $650 who are freaking out.

  • If Apple Isn't Investing In Apple, Should You? [View article]
True. I'm sure that part of that spending is for manufacturing-related things, some of which would likely relate to the computer plant that has been announced. What would be the point of keeping a phone plant secret, though?

  • If Apple Isn't Investing In Apple, Should You? [View article]
I just reviewed this. They did not spent $9.5 billion on product tooling and manufacturing; they spent $9.5 billion on "other capital expenditures, including product tooling and manufacturing process
equipment, and other corporate facilities and infrastructure."

Could they be investing significant amounts of money in manufacturing capabilities? Sure. But it's not certain yet.
