    Today's electronic version of the NYT had an interesting article about how Russia is studying the Chinese Communist model for adopting many/most of the trappings of a capitalist economy, while still maintaining single party central government control.

    It was also suggested that such countries as Japan (until very recently) and Mexico, while being democracies, are/were controlled by a single political party for decades at a stretch, and may offer some insights as to how to meld the systems.
