Agree.. and that's the reason why I mentioned them because people still tend to look at "old-school" metrics.

  • Yelp Is Good - As Long As It's Free [View article]
Regarding folks at Yelp... Weren't first Yelp suits (before they even went public) initiated by it's former/current employees claiming that Yelp violated labor and other laws? I think Yelp had to pay out about $1.3 million in claims.... (thats very intelligent and honest!: ) )

That's very interesting... Because when i spoke with other business owners they said when this happened to them Yelp team thought some comments are not truthful and that's when they moved them to filtered section. Yelp team members also said they never move negative comments to filtered section even if you pay... they move them only when they think reviews were made up...

I've heard that as well... although if you think of it... how can you really prove if the comment is truthful or not..? that will always be a problem

  • Individual Investors Deserve To Be Burned By Facebook [View article]
I think (and it's purely my opinion) this IPO was a pretty obvious scam... Most Investors were fooled by FB's $16B. And although it may seem like it's a "boom" time for all online advertising companies right now... But what is it they really worth? Nothing! They don't' even have hard assets to protect their investors.... and yes...FB may have a huge database since everyone these days seems to be using it. But has anyone ever questioned yourself how many times you actually clicked on a sponsored ad while chatting with your friends on FB? I personally haven't clicked a single time....and nobody I asked has either...Therefore, many companies that use FB for their marketing may do so impulsively. So no wonder why GE stopped wasting their money on it. People get too overwhelmed by what others says about FB's future and forget to follow their own common sense logic. Has anyone done channel checks before FB went public to prove there is a potential growth in their advertising revenue component? I don't think so...instead everyone who bought stocks were ok with exaggerated growth rates that were made up to make this IPO be remembered. I really hope the whole situation improves and nobody would have to suffer big losses, but right now I stay very skeptical about them...
