Oliver is principal at Huckleberry Investments, a London based investment manager. He invests using a long-term value strategy, aiming to produce low-risk returns far in excess of the market. Oliver achieves this outcome by running a very concentrated portfolio, relying on intensive research to uncover the best opportunities. At Huckleberry, volatility is often elevated, but fear of volatility should never get in the way of low-risk returns. Single name short positions are very rare and are only initiated if conviction is high.

I'm a young private investor. I prefer concentrated bets on small, quality businesses. I'm a strategic generalist, tactical specialist; I scan broadly looking for quirky things to become obsessed with for awhile, to accumulate clusters of competence in neglected niches. I'll place on my watch-list most anything that is predictable enough to value accurately, and wait for the right price. My idea horizons, which used to be ~1 year, seem to be lengthening. To the extent I pay attention to macro I outsource my beliefs to Scott Sumner/Market Monetarists; good guys with track records worth noticing.
My current top holdings are FN, KTCC, AGM, NVMI, EMAN, SILC, SLP, and SWIR.
I am long-term value investor currently working for a value-based asset manager. My articles attempt to identify companies with unique competitive advantages, hidden value, and special situations.
I am President of Sporting Advantage Inc. which markets a revolutionary basketball product I invented, now called the SKLZ RAPID FIRE basketball return system, and owner of Hudson and Affiliates which markets cost reduction services of my affiliates to medium size organizations with a hundred to several thousand employees. I passed CPA exam in May 1977 and practiced as a CPA for 10+ years. I have 35+ years experience as an entrepreneur, inventor, investor and published writer. Check out my website- www.shootANDstar.com to view videos of my SKLZ RAPID FIRE basketball return system and to get 15% OFF ALL SKLZ brand sports training products!
I earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy, at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, in 1979. I taught as an adjunct Assistant Professor at campuses of the City University of New York, and at the College of New Rochelle. Subsequently, I became a tenured teacher in the New York City Department of Education after teaching Mathematics for 3 years. As an undergraduate student, I took courses in Biology and Chemistry since I had planned to become a physician. I owned shares in Dendreon , whose scientific activities in immunology I had been following since Dendreon's early days. About 5 years ago, I came across PharmAthene's approach to immunology which struck me as a more scientifically effective method. I bought the stock then, and now own more of the shares. My interests in Pharmacene's ongoing litigation with Siga are philosophical.

Analyst and Fund Manager with almost 20 years investment experience. Coverage includes a variety of industries, with a focus on technology.
Particularly focused on value stocks, poorly understood or under-followed situations, and contrarian perspectives.
Primarily invest in special situations with value that is poorly understood or not fully appreciated, or where we believe there is a highly asymetric risk/reward profile. Also look for long/short ideas in mid/larger cap names where we believe we have a variant view, and the market is dramatically mispricing value.
