In the last CC, they mentioned about 50-60M million of revenue pickup due to a competitor exiting....should be a small but decent bump in income.

Good work. I'm curious to know your thoughts on the following: if Maintenance CapX is only 840k, then should we assume that the rest of the CapX be treated as growth? If so, why has growth been flat for the past few years?

I agree, this sector has good economics due to these frictional costs, but I do not see what makes IBM really stand out apart from their large installed base. When it comes to services, this "expertise" can also be sold by their competitors like ACN or the larger Indian IT players.....just IMO

IBM's real economic moat is switching costs and installed base.

What expertise does IBM have that other IT firms don't? They claim to be selling higher value add services for higher price, but I do not see what they can do that their competitors cannot.

Adam Gaglio is saying that you should not even add the minority interest from the AWN entity because you can isolate the AWN EBITDA and add it to the denominator. It is 2/3 of AWN, which is on pace to generate more than 120M in EBITDA this year.

  • Why The 'Cloud Guy' Is The Right Guy To Run Microsoft [View article]
    Excellent article on multiple levels.

I suppose a consequence of your point is that a generic search like Google may not be as effective in the future. If you want to find a person, you search Linkedin, find an app, use an App Store, find a restaurant, or a company, then a Maps. Perhaps Bing should head in this direction with different apps that plug into it.

I think this might necessitate having a guy with deep experience building consumer apps to head their Applications division, while Qi Lu is a smart guy, maybe they should consider other options...

Agree with this post. Revenue goes down, costs go up, EBT goes down, but lower tax rate saves the day!
