Ex-analyst, generalist at Granite Investment Partners where I had the opportunity to work with Jeff Hoo & Peter Lopez, who are among the top notch micro, small and mid cap managers. I am a proud Bruin, MBA graduate from UCLA Anderson. CFA level 3 candidate. Ex-consultant. I am primarily a value investor but I am perfectly comfortable owning growth at a reasonable price. Though identifying high quality, long term holdings is most rewarding, a lot of my work is related to beaten down and potentially misunderstood companies. Process highlights - Getting the reason correct is at least as important as getting the stock right. My company analysis is informed by my past life as a consultant. In analyzing a company, I spend a lot of time in finding the right questions (hypothesis). For me, knowing what I know and what I don’t know (or can't know) is a pre-requisite step in investment analysis.
MicroCaps.com was founded on the emphasis to provide 100% Independent Research to investors. We have two subscription products focused on finding undiscovered NanoCap and MicroCap Ideas. Then we have an Ala Carte Due Diligence product that digs deeper for hedge fund managers since many of them don't have the time to do so. We also have an active investor blog where passionate analysts contribute content to build their reputations within the marketplace.
I reside in the greater Detroit area. During the winter you will find me on the mountain chasing the fresh powder.
Father of four, grandfather of one, happily married for 27 years and counting...I enjoy outside activities, walking, jogging (when I'm feeling ambitious!), and golf. I have been actively investing for one year and really enjoy learning about and watching the markets...so much fun.
I am an independent investor focused primarily on long/short US equities across all sectors. Before deciding to exclusively invest my own money in 2011, I was a partner at a proprietary trading firm for 7 years. Prior to that I worked for 3 years at Morgan Stanley as a research analyst covering the Internet and Software sectors. I graduated from Princeton University with a degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy and International Affairs.
