  • The Eurozone Is Doomed: Why ECB Bond Purchases And The Greek Election Don't Matter [View article]
    Good Article,

    In my article last week,
I was focused on the UK leaving the EU. I did say that the EU QE would only provide some breathing room to sort some stuff out. Like the Greek re-negotiations etc. The UK and or Norway leaving the EU would destabilize that whole concept. Neither country is tied into the EURO so exit is easier. They would leave under Article 50. If article 50 was implemented by Greece, Spain or Portugal, then the common currency agreement between the 3 countries and the EU would automatically be revoked along with all of the austerity agreements. The 3 countries would have an effective clean slate. They would not owe the EU anything but would find it hard to get credit elsewhere.
In truth Greece may be holding more cards than the troika is!!!
They certainly have a better hand to bluff with.

    The truth is that oil will not really bottom until either;
    the Euro does
everyone goes to war with Russia.

    Just a thought

  • Adaptive Medias: A Fast Growing Ad-Tech Microcap With The Potential For An M&A Exit [View article]
    Yeah, this is bad news.
Waiting to hear the companys press release. I expect they will distance themselves from the CEO, but say he has not been found guilty yet.

Earnings are just around the corner and they matter more than who the CEO is. The question will be; does the market fell the company can succeed without the CEO.

As CT programmer says, this is ONE individual at the company, there is a good group there to run in the CEO absence.

This does not help the company image, but a lot will depend on how the company handles this going forward.

    Any press release yet?

He was apparently arrested last Wednesday and arraigned on Friday. I would have though they would have a statement ready for the open this morning.

The big question is WHO is going to step UP and say something!

the shorts will find it very easy to bleed this company until they say something.

I am half tempted to throw $100 at the low and see if earnings will help recover. I say this knowing that this stock could go much lower.

The risk that this could go to zero, was always there as I reiterated in my last comment above. This should not happen because of the actions of 1 employee, if I were another ad company, I would be looking at this as an opportunity to buy-out at a rock bottom price.

It is hard to hedge when Banks like Canada and Switzerland, just act. They took even the most experienced Forex traders by surprise. You can not expect Don to foresee that type of currency action.
As for hedging against a weaker Euro, it can become very expensive, when a trade is that crowded. Then what happens is, the trade reverses for just long enough to hurt many before flipping back again.

If you hedge against the rate hikes at the end of the year, and the FED decides to wait until 2016, you also lose money.

The best cure is to turn the business around, but it just got a little harder.

  • What Really Caused Crude Oil Prices To Collapse? [View article]
"I live in a growing emerging market country and the price of gas at the pump has fallen 24% in the local currency despite growth and, presumably, strong demand."

I was paying $4.58 a gallon last summer. Just filled up at $1.97. You do the math, but it is more than -24%. Because th EM is more stable the price has dropped. The price has dropped in Europe too, I am just pointing out that it may start to increase in Europe due to the devaluation of the EURO even as it drops more slowly for you and more rapidly in the USA.

Once you add in th EU tax burden to a gallon, you could further hurt supply. If the EU had mass amounts of oil it could produce, then this would be okay as they could produce their own and limit the impact of imports (not to mention creating jobs too). However, both th UK and Norway (Northsea oil) are in the EU, but NEITHER of them use the single currency. Therefore that oil is an import to the EU. Perhaps they have some shale deposits they could exploit like the USA did. Oh NO WAIT, they banned fracking about 2 years ago. They are also almost at war with their largest supplier Russia.
    What to do I wonder?

I think you will see MSFT listed in a few areas of the document in the very near future. They are not as yet even listed under the LCoS section, but will be.

Thank you all for the comments on the title. I do not believe that there is an award, but maybe it is not a bad idea for S.A to create one. I do think it is important that the title is descriptive of what the article is actually about, not just there as a PV grabber.
This one originated from a comment I made on another article. I was noticing that all of the other articles mentioned the bad earnings and the turnaround story, but NONE of them talked about the currency issue which only exacerbated the earnings problem.

The actions of central banks over the last 2 weeks are not in these earnings and I thought it important to point out that they have an effect on turnaround efforts. As haschultz says, the rate hike at the back end of the year, could ruin the second half for this company and many others.

Please take the time to SHARE this story as it is a topic not discussed in the wider media yet! It will be important going into the next round of earnings and I think everyone has the right to know up front.

    many thanks

There is a lot of talk of over production ( and some data) from oil dependent states. There is also apparently a growing black market, which is helping to finance certain groups. For which I have seen no evidence... The trouble with black

I would note that there is a multiplying factor related to the USD. Note although there is a 16% increase in the Dollar, there is a decrease in strength in all the other currencies that it trades against.

It is important to note that oil price has NOT DROPPED as precipitously in any of these countries once you pay for oil in the local currency. This in turn amplifies the effect of the economic slowdown effect in those counties. This can be seen in the divergence of price in WTI and Brent even when measuring both in USD.

In addition, economic factors in Russia have caused an increase in production there as they need to sell more at any price to help balance the checkbook. There is also the black market trade which is growing and undermines prices in the open market.

Thank you for your time and effort with the article, it is very informative. It does a lot to dispel some of the gut reaction rumor or causalities linked to oil.

    Hey there, This article
by another SA Contributor could be considered a Himax customer list for LCoS. The author does not metion Himax, but that does not change who the company's customers are.

Worth a look as a comparison between the current option in heads up display etc.

Well, today's market action as a little predictable. I may have under-estimated the high for the Dow by $2, but I would not consider that a break above my 17,838.
We now wait patiently for Greece, and perhaps get a buying opportunity next week.

    Thoughts anyone?
