TCS' Finnish Employees Stage Protests Over Jobs Cut
Employees at the Finland offices of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) started protests on Thursday against the decision to cut around 290 jobs from a total strength of 800.
Reports said that 160 employees staged protests at its offices in Espoo and Salo in Finland even as company said it was consulting the issue with employee representatives.
The company told a media agency that consultation process was aimed at streamlining TCS's operations in selected areas and harmonising them with its global operations.
TCS further added that it hopes to conclude the negotiations within six weeks while ensuring that potentially impacted employees get adequate support from the company.

TCS Launches ‘Intelligent Testing System' At CA World 2013
IT major, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd said that it has launched its Intelligence Testing System (ITS) solution to help customers automate the testing lifecycle. The new solution will be made available in May 2013, at CA World 2013 in Las Vegas, NV, is being developed through TCS's existing partnership with CA Technologies and combines TCS's innovative process and automation tools with CA LISA® Service Virtualization software, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Commenting on the development, TCS, VP and global head, Shiva Ganesha, said, "We believe that the future of software assurance lies in creating a seamless cycle between development, test and production." Moreover, ITS features engineering-based accelerators and built-in agile tools, and will facilitate TCS and CA Technologies with faster time to market and lead to higher quality while minimizing cost.

Airtel Signs Deal To Fully Acquire Warid Telecom Uganda
Telecom major, Bharti Airtel Ltd said that it has inked an agreement with Warid Group ("Warid"), in order to fully acquire the Warid Telecom Uganda. With this acquisition, the total customer base of Airtel will increase to 7.4 million with market share of over 39 per cent, leading it to second largest mobile operator in Uganda, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange. Commenting on the development, Bharti Airtel, MD and CEO (International), Manoj Kohli, said, "We are delighted at this agreement with Warid, which also happens to be the first in-market acquisition in Bharti Airtel's history. We believe this market consolidation offers great synergies by bringing together the best of Airtel and Warid to better serve customers in Uganda and drive forward our vision of offering affordable best in-class services in Africa." However, Airtel at present has a customer base of 4.6 million in Uganda whereas Warid has an existing customer base of 2.8 million which after acquisition will join Airtel's global network.
