    Awesome article.

One question, are you worried about the Euro dropping with all this news (greece etc)? This will send your BMW shares down. For example, the stock was up about 5% on the German exchange in 2014, but down 8% in the US exchange with the ADR. That's a 13% haircut due to currency issues in 2014 alone + the dividends that yielded less.

  • It's New! It's Nifty! It's The Dividend Growth 50! [View article]
Mike, best of luck to you! I love the buy and hold mentality. Pick 50 great companies, don't check your computer every day, and see what happens. That's how people really get rich.

My only issue is that you're buying some companies here at very high valuations, and some at very low valuations. For example, its probably a very good time to buy Chevron or Exxon right now, but maybe not Visa or Starbucks. Have you thought about waiting for a market decline to buy everything at once? You're buying 50 great companies, but at the absolute height of the market that has ever been.
Just some food for thought. Best of luck and I'm excited for the next article.

Investors that come on now will also gain the benefit of having income statement losses since the recession. BOI has a lot of tax credits which will carry forward when they start posting profits. John Templeton was famous for this type of investing in the 1930s.

A few things... A 'one year' time horizon is not 'long-term'. Also value investors don't short stocks, so unfortunately I can't take you up on your offer. Just be careful with these tech stocks... to me, a company that has never made any money (with zero hard assets) cannot be worth 24.5BB. Best of luck though- I love twitter and want it to be around.

Doggie- Unique Monthly Visitors doesn't equal profits. They've been around for 8 years and not a dime of actual profit has come out. That being said, I love using twitter and its a great firm... but they don't make money. Its best to be patient, follow guys like Buffett, and stay away from all this crazy stuff

Doggie, have you thought about the worst case scenario? Companies that lose massive amounts of money don't stay in business for too long...
