My investment style tends to be a bit eclectic, as it is a mix of strategic investing, contrarian, Peter Lynch's"Invest in What You Know", and TRI.
Most advisors would say that my investments are too aggressive for a person who is 7-10 years from retirement, however, I disagree because:
1. My self directed accounts are a small percentage of our overall retirement accounts &
2. My husband's 401K investments are ultra conservative as he is risk averse
Unfortunately, I am currently unemployed so I may be closer to retirement then I think, but that's another topic.
I have worked in accounting and finance for over 30 years. From 1996 - 2010, I worked for two banks in trust accounting of which 8 years were in management. For those not familiar with the field, trust accounting involves accounting for investment portfolios of public funds, endowments & foundations, corporate retirement plans, corporations, etc. Prior to working in trust accounting, I worked in financial accounting starting in staff accounting positions and eventually moving up to accounting manager positions. I worked for various companies in the telecom, retail and manufacturing industry.
My educational background:
MBA: Florida Institute of Technology
BA: University of South Florida - Business Administration
CFE - Certified Fraud Examiner
