Joe, it's not the jeans, it's the brand, obviously. Which you can't copy.

Levi Strauss and others obviously have a brand. True Religion seems to have it as well.

Come'on, if you're married you know how it works ... eheh.

Drilling to keep leases might make sense. To get cash flow, it doesn't.

If the uncompleted wells were enough to keep the leases, then it might make sense.

I know hawkeye, I wasn't trying to use fund benchmarks, as much as using the same for every one of these funds to check how they did versus a single choice.

Yes, quite impressive. As far as I can see the thesis remains on track, even if I expect prices to have a lot of trouble getting over $3 for now (unless summer continues to be scorching hot).

One way this could be made transparent for the fund holders, would be for there to be some kind of rule, like "can only distribute what the fund made in excess of the benchmark over a given period": That way the funds would be more comparable between themselves (you'd just have to know each fund's benchmark).

As it stands, it's pretty confusing and misleading.

  • A Microsoft Promotion Might Hit Amazon.com's Media Revenues [View article]
It would take AMZN's profits going up at least 5X, bruce. I started writing short on AMZN at $217, so what? It's not like it has moved much since then (I covered several times below $175, and re-shorted higher).

AMZN has only gotten WORSE since I started writing on it. The threats have only become larger, as well.

AMZN getting to $300 would not change my standing on it. AMZN INCREASING PROFITS might.

Be aware that even if AMZN profits were TEN times higher, it would still be a lot more expensive than AAPL, a much better company. So asking for it to increase profits FIVE times isn't much.

The number, overall, does look like $4-$5, after all that's the level at which the rigs started going away.

Aricool, the number of wells being drilled is falling as per EIA. It doesn't make sense to drill and cap because it takes cash to do it.

Also, it doesn't make sense to drill for cash flow because the costs are upfront and the wells are free cash flow negative for a good while, even if they're profitable.

A good deal of the cost of a well is spent if you do that. It doesn't make much sense for cash-strapped companies to do it.

    That's with NGL's.

More rigs do not mean more free cash flow.

  • The Amazon.com Short Thesis [View article]
dixonge, this was not the first short article I did on AMZN, I was short from higher levels, have covered multiple times, used both short stock and options, and remain short.

    No ouch whatsoever.

Plus 10-20% moves are nothing if you manage your risk well.
