AMZN guided down on revs, earnings for Q4, as well.

    • Whitehawk: Congrats Paulo, your ship has come in here!

    • Paulo Santos: This is just getting started - just look at the thing, this is the 300 P/E stock? It's producing losses, predicting breakeven for Q4
      10/25/12
    • Hillbilly Stock Star: Good Call Paulo!

    • vandeley: starting to go back up like last earnings. I guess more opportunities to short :)
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: It's quite amazing, there are very few companies out there reporting worse than AMZN.
      10/25/12
    • jmartz101: I noticed that as well it's starting to creep higher now won't surprise if it goes green.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: This time i seems too horrible, no angle for it I'd say. I wonder what story will be spun.
      10/25/12
    • blablah: Happened last earnings too, green after 5 minutes of reporting horrible numbers PPT in force
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: This is reporting LOSSES at this point, and even Q4 was guided towards breakeven, which could mean a loss for the YEAR!
      10/25/12
    • jmartz101: Yes it did cause I had some shares last report dropped 8% than recoverd and jumped it's possible that it may happen.
      10/25/12
    • mdesilvio: and slowly creeping back up. tough to play AMZN with options.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: There's probably a cartel stuck in the name. Anyway I don't much care - the company is not getting better or gaining value, indeed ...
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: ... if it continues like this at some point it will have solvency risk.
      10/25/12
    • jmartz101: It's only down 2% now someone is sure pumping this thing up.
      10/25/12
    • ChrisGriffith: the reaction to this is unreal. down 9% to only down 2%?
      10/25/12
    • vandeley: makes for good trading, sold back the shorts i had bought at 207
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: As I said, there's probably a cartel stuck in it, from as far back as 2010.
      10/25/12
    • jmartz101: I dont know this stock is bulletproof or something this is the second time this year it had a lousy report isn't dropping.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: Analysts must be writing fiction at this point. eheh
      10/25/12
    • jmartz101: I think investors just said "F" it and started buying.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: More likely an organized cabal stepped in to support it, while analysts dropped acid to make up a story to justify it.
      10/25/12
    • Gene Chan, CFA: I'm looking to short - but could this re-action be due to if you back out cost for buying LivingSocial, they actually made money?
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: No, if you back out LivingSocial they still lost, -$0.60 is with the charges, -0.23 is without them.
      10/25/12
    • Gene Chan, CFA: ahhh my bad... OK, there is nothing good about this report.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: It's still solvent! That's gotta be worth $100 billion right there!
      10/25/12
    • Gene Chan, CFA: True, but I'm also solvent and I definitely earned more income than Amazon last quarter :)
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: ehhe. You need to IPO and paint a picture of rivers of honey just across the valley.
      10/25/12
    • PSalerno: I am holding on short OTM calls but I am not adding at this level. There is some support near 220 and a rebound is possible.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: Ahh .. the story now seems to be the "non gaap 2013 number"... lol.
      10/25/12
    • Paulo Santos: Never mind that the 2013 estimates will be coming down as well.
      10/25/12
    • Ocean Man: AMZN is a balloon. It just won't stay underwater.
      10/25/12
    • ChrisGriffith: up 2% pre-market. you'd think they beat estimates or something...
      10/26/12
    • Paulo Santos: eheh, but the close was also very suspect, take a look at yesterday's intraday chart. Anyway, this is being supported for sure.
      10/26/12
    • Paulo Santos: But the fundamentals keep getting worse, so it will implode at some point.
      10/26/12
    • dieuwer: The Cartel does not have unlimited amounts of money to prop up AMZN, unless Bernanke is on board.
      10/26/12
    • ChrisGriffith: at what point does this so-called cartel exit the stock? its not too far from all-time highs and its pretty obvious there's no growth story
      10/26/12
    • Paulo Santos: Well, at one point Soros dropped out and AMZN felt the need to buy back $1 billion in stock, so others might drop out as well.
      10/26/12
    • Gene Chan, CFA: Shorted at 231ish, wish me luck
