    • Perkins Cove: IMO, lack of fear & mis-placed faith in central banks.. It is forming a bottom. VIX 10 dsma is at 18.22 and dropping.

    • Peter Epstein: should one be buying calls on VXX? No pair trades or arbs, just an outright long on VXX as a hedge against a bad stock market

    • Tom Guttenberger: This was a good post on VIX vs. VXX: http://seekingalpha.com/a/f5bp also posted recently: http://seekingalpha.com/a/f5h9. Recommend VIX calls

    • SanDiegoNonSurfer: Why would one buy VXX rather than buying VIX futures directly? With the futures you can set your own timeframe.

    • Peter Epstein: how does one buy VIX futures directly?

    • Tom Guttenberger: I've never had an issue buying VIX options through my IB account...

    • Peter Epstein: how are trading commissions on direct VIX futures on IB? Minimum trading size?
      7/9/12
    • SanDiegoNonSurfer: Peter, for active traders, IB is a great deal. Low commissions with a min. monthly spend amt. If you trade seldom, the monthly can hurt.

    • Tom Guttenberger: I think very competitive...I don't believe there is a min size either, but I've only done the options. It gets expensive when I buy
