  • Community Banks At The Crossroad: Risky Moments For Shareholders [View article]
Thanks Nat. And thanks for commenting.
I believe you're right that their ownership provides a clue. In SNV's case, Kessell Stelling, Chairman, President and CEO owns $2.4 Million is stock versus last year's comp of $1.5 Million. No one on the Board seems to own much more than that.

Over at BHWB, Rick Bastien III, CEO/President owns only $78,000 worth of stock versus comp of $181,000 last year. Interestingly, Board Member Diane Hendricks is the largest shareholder with 346,000 shares. She seems to be a billionaire in her own right so money may not be much of a motivation for her, but who knows?

  • Bank Of America: It Is Time To Take Profits [View article]
Regarded- Good articles on BAC. You're always going to have know-it-alls who knock your work. Keep on writing good informative pieces.

Another BAC point I've never quite reconciled is the fact that Moynihan NEVER buys any stock. If I were him and I really believed I would have been plowing at least half of every paycheck into open market purchases. Jamie Dimon sure has stepped up to the plate on JPM stock.

  • Could Insider Buying Indicate The Next Bank Acquisition? [View article]
Good article Stephen. I love it when the insiders are not just buying but also own meaningful stakes. Meaningful to their net worth.
Check out the ownership at SBFC in Georgia.

  • Bank Of America - It's Not Spring, But I Hear The Robins [View article]
Thanks Tim. Keep up the good work.

The industry needs more guys like Jamie Dimon who step up to the plate and buy stock. Remember John Reed and all the Citicorp he owned in the early 90's?

Agree with Ian. Good analysis Mathias. I'm sure you're more on top of it than Icahn. I remember when he pumped WebMD up. That didn't go so well.

Hey Tim- I like your analysis. Hard to refute as some have tried here. Why though do you suppose that Moynihan owns so little stock?
If I had my fingers on the pulse like he does and truly believed I'd take 90% of my paycheck every month and buy the stock with it.

  • 4 Reasons To Consider Buying First Niagara Financial [View article]
kingdad- I like your comments. Another factor to consider in these dilutive bank acquisitions is the guys like Koelmel can now justify a higher salary and bonuses to themselves and if they don't own lots of shares going in it doesn't hurt much on their stock going down. If they're also sly enough, they can get themselves a fat option plan near the bottom and even profit more by screwing those folks who paid $13 on the secondary a few years ago. There's tons of incentive for the likes of FNFG to do it.

  • Bank Stock Analysis: Things You Won't Learn In A Textbook, Part 1 [View article]
Hi r2d2c3- Given that their latest OCC exam finished before they reported the second quarter, I find a hit of that magnitude unlikely. CITZ, like other Chicago banks, has had their share of credit issues and hasn't managed to NPA's on a steady downward course like others have.
