I prefer the riskier but more rewading buying a leap and writing a call against that - more bang for the buck but it takes you a long time to get the feel for the relative volatility.

I suggest paring a full trade with a single contract to try this out for a while. Usually I will go one or two brackets in the money and sell the first bracket out of the money.
