Praveen grew up in Louisiana, and studied economics and computer science at MIT in Boston. After working in New York, he now calls Atlanta home. Praveen has extensive experience in both IT and finance, having built systems for credit derivatives trading, loan exposure management, and structured securities trading during his time in New York. Praveen also started and successfully sold a startup, SmartWorkGroups, during the dot-com boom, and is currently at work on HiddenLevers, a startup focused on bringing macro risk analysis tools to investors. Praveen writes a blog on politics, economics, and social issues, as examined through the concept of “true cost”. Cost-benefit analysis is a well known tool which applies equally in both business and public policy. Whether examining the energy market, health care reform, tax policy, or other issues, this approach provides insights not often discussed in the mainstream media. Praveen's latest venture is HiddenLevers, a financial site focusing on macro risk analysis and scenario planning. HiddenLevers provides Scenario Analysis, which enables investors to understand what might happen to their portfolios if the dollar crashes, if health care reform passes, or if any of numerous other scenarios occurs. HiddenLevers also provides a unique Macro Risk Screener, a stock screener which enables users to find stocks which could benefit from trends in commodities, interest rates, or any of almost 40 different macroeconomic indicators.
