I seek out value or mispriced stocks with a catalyst and special situations. I’m also a top down macro market trader. I invest for the long term and the short term. I use common stocks, options and ETFs. I use fundamental and technical analysis. I’ve been trading since 1993.
I invest (technically) part-time, but I love the markets and immerse myself in them daily. I enjoy writing about my investment ideas as it helps me to organize my thoughts and I am happy to share if it helps others. I invite criticism as it will help sharpen my ideas, so please tell me where, in your opinion, I am going wrong.
Having been both a reader and a contributor on SA, I had a realization. Widely-known investment ideas are not very useful. This is because by the time general public knows about an opportunity, the inefficiency that caused it is usually gone. Fund managers who share their ideas, often do it after a rise in price, as they are trimming or selling their positions. And now, good ideas are often hidden behind a paywall.
Despite a plethora of well-written investment articles on SA, I rarely find a true investment gem here. My best ideas have mostly been my own. I suspect this is true for many of us.
Therefore, I began to work on a project to help me generate my own, original investment ideas. Reading is key to investing success, and reading about what works in investing should be even better. Having just started, I decided to share the project with SA readers. To check out the very early efforts, please go to www.readvest.com.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know and I will implement them.

As a former Registered Rep, I now own zero mutual funds after seeing how they were destroyed in 2008.
I am an experienced individual investor who has been trading merger arbitrage stocks and options since the 90's. I am a writer with a Master of Science from Northwestern University and I truly enjoy writing articles about the stock market. I try to look for opportunities where the odds are in my favor and there is a definite edge. On Seeking Alpha my articles will aim to provide insight and favorable risk/reward for the readers. However, I am not an investment advisor so any recomendations or ideas I write about in my articles, blogs, or comments shouldn't be taken as investment advice. I recommend using my writings as a starting point to which you should add your own research or that of an investment advisor.
"Any time you make a bet with the best of it, where the odds are in your favor, you have earned something on that bet, whether you actually win or lose the bet. By the same token, when you make a bet with the worst of it, where the odds are not in your favor, you have lost something, whether you actually win or lose the bet."
