Just briefly looked through their filings - worried about the P/E. Surly this is a high growth company....

But I'm skeptical about the valuation - what do you guys think?

  • Unfashionable Outlook For American Apparel Investors; Alleged Revealing Photos Not Helping Current CEO [View article]
Why would it make sense to "take profits" on a company which is on the verge of a turnaround? They got rid of their under-performing CEO, it looks like they will bring in a more experienced board and they're working on their debt issue.

To me, it would be a mistake to sell now. Now is the time to buy.

  • American Apparel: A Company Walking On Egg Shells [View article]
"Lion Capital is now asking for immediate repayment of the $10 million loan or to allow Mr. Charney back in charge of APP. Given APP going to great lengths to keep Mr. Charney out entirely, I see this loan having a high probability of defaulting."

    Why?

American Apparel says it has enough money to pay off the loan. It also is looking to line up fresh capital with bankers at Peter J. Solomon Co.

  • I Won't Sell My Apple Stock Below $1,000 - Still Potential To Double From Here [View article]
Your terminal value is WAY too high. 5% is too much.

The US economy's long term growth rate is 3%. So with your 5% TV, you're saying that one day, Apple will outgrow the US economy.

You should lower that TV. I'm sure your PT will be closer to reality.

BTW, I am long Apple, but your estimates are way too high.

  • Apple repurchases $14B of stock in two weeks [View news story]
Can someone please tell me why everyone is so negative to the share buyback program? Apple has been sitting on $150bn+ of cash for as long as I can remember. Clearly they aren't making any large acquisitions or even spending that cash. What else can they do? Return money to shareholders.
I assume you own shares.... When Carl pushes Tim to buy more, the float decreases and EPS increases - good for us. So why is everyone complaining?

  • Apple repurchases $14B of stock in two weeks [View news story]
Wait so, what you're saying is that when a company buys back its own stock, its sure to fall? Are you kidding me?

They have a plan to buy $50bn worth of stock by the end of September. Tim saw a huge opportunity to buy that stock at a lower price... what person in their sane mind would wait for the price to go higher and then buy? If you're committed to buying $50bn of your own stock, then you seize that opportunity when it drops substantially. Basic investing 101.

Some people on here just don't understand the basics of investing...

  • Beverage sector in focus after KO-GMCR deal [View news story]
Remember last time KO didn't partner with GMCR? There was no reason KO/PEP would buy SODA. But now there is.

Pepsi will be left in the dust if they don't do something about this. Who else could they possibly partner with/buy? SODA is a $750mm company being sold in over 16,000 stores worldwide so the distribution is there, the valuation is cheap (15.5x P/E with 25% revenue growth? Come on... cheap cheap cheap) everything is there... it's turnkey and ready to go.

You're wrong to be selling right now at the bottom, especially at this valuation. You should be buying more.

  • U.S. solar stocks rally strongly ahead of a Tuesday speech from Pres. Obama in which he's expected to outline plans to effectively double the amount of renewable energy created on public lands by 2020 (enough to power 6M homes), and to impose regulations of carbon dioxide output from U.S. power plans. First Solar (FSLR +7.6%), which received an upgrade and a bullish coverage launch yesterday, is the biggest winner, but SunEdison (SUNE +5.6%) and SunPower (SPWR +4.2%) are also doing well. [View news story]
