Pop Goes The Gold Bubble
Let's not blame political parties for the deficit. if we want to do that, let's look at George W Bush's pushing for a war that didn't need to be fought, and the MASSIVE expenditure has been, (and continues to be) while lowering taxes. I mean, in my household, we were taught to save, not increase spending while lowering earnings ...
Obviously there is tremendous government waste to go around.

Google In Social Media: It's All About The Data
Cereal, You make fine points about GOOG, and the ONE place that G is the underdog is social media, Is Bing still an underdog SE wise? Absolutely! But there is a reason that MSFT was willing to pay such a high price for a piece of Facebook which at the time drew scorn from many an analyst.
Facebook + Bing combined will likely be recreating a good chunk what constitutes the search engine. It is race for data, and because of their partnership with Facebook, Mr. Softy has a chance.
But that doesn't discount Google and their phone payment systems, geo-location with the Droid which will be able to deliver coupons, etc. etc ...
Let's call Google the army trying to overtake the Internet. They look like Achilles, and seem invincible, and I'm telling you that Facebook is their heel.
Feel free to comment further, always up for a good discussion of ideas.
Human habits are powerful, and right now Bing is the dog, but there was a forward thinking reason that MSFT bought into Facebook for as high a price as they did at the time.
