I enjoy managing my personal retirement account. I am not an expert by any means, but enjoy the process and learning as i go. I have a degree in Economics from Purdue University, and own a small custom fence business in Indiana, specializing in custom cedar and wrought iron type fences. My main goal in investing is to be able to retire early, hopefully around 55 years old. It will take many good decisions in investing and also life in general. I have found Seeking Alpha to be a great place to learn from many very intelligent people.
I am a Civil Engineer, who is married with two young kids. In 2013 I took a more active role in managing my IRA for retirement and decided to publicly share my experiences in building the portfolio as an example for the dividend growth investing strategy.
My interest in investing mostly began in 2005 when I started up an investment club with a few friends from college and has accelerated as I've been reading and learning along the way. Since then, investing and the stock market has become a passion and favorite hobby and I've enjoyed writing about stocks and sharing ideas I have here on Seeking Alpha.
My investing goals are to build a nest egg for retirement and fund college education accounts for my kids. I invest mainly in dividend paying stocks that have shown a history of consistent growth in earnings and dividend payouts.
My wife and I are retired traveling this beautiful country in our 38 foot 5th wheel. My hobby is photography and my wife's is birding. I retired from the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta after 29 years of managing their Camp Kiwanis. Wonderful experience!! My wife retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta GA after 18 years as an emergency room nurse. We have lots of goals but one that is a priority is to gain the knowledge to take action in the form of managing our own portfolio. I have been reading articles from the Seeking Alpha site for about a year and have to say I'm so impressed by all the wonderful authors. It has given me the courage to finally think about managing our portfolio. The dividend growth strategy is what I 'm most interested in and believe it is the strategy for us.
I’ve tried to live true to My Mission – this quote – “The Essence of Success by Unknown”
“Successful is the person who has lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of children, who leaves the world better than they found it, who has never lacked appreciation for the earth’s beauty, who never fails to look for the best in others or give the best of themselves.”
I am a fruit that did not fall too far from the parent tree. I have planted my tap root in Palm Beach County, Florida in the home I grew up in. Over the course of my worldly education and growing up, I met a volunteer transplant, H-Bee. Soon the flower of love blossomed between us and we got married during our last year of college. Fast forward: thirteen years of marriage, B.S. in Management Information System, and three male saplings later, and I am here with you now. I am a vegetarian in training, a gardener, a pursuer of knowledge in the realm of sustainability with a grounding in permaculture. As we gardeners know, we can not help but name our plants, or saplings for that matter. From youngest to oldest, Mr. Q; 3, Mr. Z; 7, and Mr. X; 9. Last but not least, an amateur investor trying to not to be out shaded by the towering professionals before me. Absorbing all knowledge they are willing to instill in me. In hopes of one day becoming a lovely towering professional and guide for the next generation.
Stockviews is a tool for amateur and professional investors. It aggregates stock opinions from a variety of sources, including Wall Street, Twitter, the financial press and 13F SEC filings. Algorithms are used to ensure the information is highly relevant to the decision-making process. This project is the creation of a professional fund manager who recognised there was a huge amount of information available on the web, but limited means to filter it in an effective way. Stockviews.com is due to launch towards the end of March.
