Ongoing Market Correction: Why I Sold My Shares of Rock-Tenn [View article]
Great comment. Currently my trading account has a realized net gain for 2008 of $609.10, consisting of net short-term loss of $(8,679.66) and a net long-term gain of $9,288.76. These are just realized trades in my trading account. Currently my small trading account, as of the close today (after the big rebound) has an unrealized gain of $596.85.
However, as of December 30, 2007, if you go to my blog, you can see the exact entry, the account value was $62,105.02. With today's closing value of $34,903, I have lost $28,000 (at least) since the first of the year in value. Most of this ended up being losing unrealized gains. However, I add $200/month to the account, so my 'loss' is more like $30,000.
I am far from brilliant but I am quite honest about all of this as you can verify this both on my blog and on my Covestor page which is linked from my blog.
