  • Google IO Offers Surprisingly Good News For Apple [View article]
Classic tipping point article Mark. Thank you. Not only is Google's one trick advertising model under attack by Facebook, Apple in stealth mode, and others like Twitter, we have gone from an environment where Google can do no wrong to an environment to one where selling and exploiting people's personal info is now very uncool. Selling people's info is also under attack by the Eurozone. Plus their core search tool is glowingly under siege by Apple and Microsoft Bing. I have sold the last of my Google and even bought Microsoft again with some of the proceeds.

Glad to hear Intel's learning how to work in a more open and entrepreneurial way but transferring company jewels to an aggressive Chinese company pushing Android is very, very dangerous.

It's not the processor that's important, its the ecosystem.

Thanks for reinforcing what everyone should be figuring out by now. As far as the name goes, and I am not saying my name is perfect, simple is better.

Anther great spot on article Mark. I think the world is beginning to understand that Apple is not a cell phone company. It is the leader of the Wireless Information Age buildout, a buildout that is already much bigger than wired Internet could ever hope to be.

  • Apple gets target hikes, Icahn praise after FQ2 beat [View news story]
What's going on here is manipulation. Market makers have lots of options out that are now underwater big time on their end. Apple will march ahead after the weekly options expire on Friday. IN the meantime they will try to keep Apple's price down if they can do it cost effectively.

  • Yelp -4.2%; Kickstarter launched for critical documentary [View news story]
The benefit of Yelp to everyone involved far outweighs the downside. Any savvy reader knows to sort the wheat from the chaffee as is true for the internet in general. If the Yelp documentary is not entertaining very few people will go. I agree with the Yawn expressed above.

  • Apple iPad Sales May Surprise In FY 2016 [View article]
Yes Enterprise adoption takes a long time. The more sophisticated and potentially useful the application, the longer it is likely to take. A few months is only the early part of this incubation period.

  • Apple iPad Sales May Surprise In FY 2016 [View article]
Hi Alex, I like your articles. This one is overall on the right track but misses the most important future driver of iPad sales: the Enterprise. The iPad is the ideal device for customer friendly, relatively low cost, highly portable, easy to use and very valuable business aps. The aps can take advantage of the cloud build out and the huge amount of data and resources that are becoming available to wireless devices. Huge data banks and meaningful data mining will drive the utility of the iPad form factor big time. Laptops will become passee in customer visits.

The IBM Partnership should start supercharging iPad sales in existing form factors later this year. It takes a while for the enterprise to adapt new technology but the pipeline of new opportunities and benefits for Apple and its Enterprise customer base is filling. It is going to be a very big pipe one year from now. Enjoy!!

  • Apple's Fiscal Q2: iPhone Channel Tailwind [View article]
We should also see record Chinese New Year Holiday sales. Chongqing and Tianjin stores in process of opening now. Everything is in place for record breaking Q2.

  • Apple's Fiscal Q2: iPhone Channel Tailwind [View article]
In addition to the 3M unit inventory catch up tailwind we will have many potential Samsung buyers switching to Apple. The snowball has just begun to roll down the hill.

Anyone who knows what is going on and has the money, will not want more Android based phones and phones that cannot be updated to the latest Android versions, as flawed as they may be. Cell phones now support mission critical applications for enterprise and individuals and software must be kept at the state of the art. Those who know better won't take a chance on Android or even Microsoft crapware.

  • Setting Up Apple's Amazing 2015 [View article]
I think you are spot on in the following comment:

"The problem is that I don't see any rational, objective way to set a price target, even if I felt absolutely certain about Apple's financial performance. This is not for lack of methodology, but because the market is not rational. The market's low valuation of Apple wasn't rational in 2013, and it still isn't in my view."

Added to this problem is the fact analysts and most pundits don't really understand the business Apple is in and their business model. We are talking about the mobile web buildout and not just smartphones per se. As to smartphones, they are going to continue to get a whole lot more capable in support of ongoing mobile web and App capabilities, which in turn will drive new models and sales into the indefinite future.

No one will leave home without their wireless devices. Mobile devices will become more and more essential to the navigation of the increasingly complex world we live in. And of course more and more computing will move to the wireless web and Smart Phones and Tablets will be the smart terminals everyone will depend on in addition to providing more and more computing power going forward.

It was no accident that Apple went to 64 bit computing long before any other wireless device provider. Apple sees the future better than most and that includes the investment community as well.

Horace Deidu does a great job of saying why 2015 will see major Apple iOS and Apple device penetration of the enterprise. He is calling this the "biggest news event of 2014" (presumably he is talking about technology news):
