  • AeroGrow: Product's Not the Problem [View article]
I also wrote an article about AeroGrow here: www.nabloid.com/aerogr.../

I wrote that article a while ago... After having used the AeroGrow for a while, my opinion on this investment has changed dramatically. I no longer think it's a very good investment if we think AeroGrow is intended to actually grow food for a reasonable price. I think it's best suited to be an educational product, and in that regard I hope the Company does well.

I realize we can use our own seeds to grow and you actually NEED to in order to grow anything worthwhile. If you purchase their seed packs (over $20), you'll be lucky to get your value back in produce. For that reason alone, it doesn't seem to be very economical. The lettuce was bitter and not at all crisp. The herbs (well some of them) weren't as tasty as I'm used to. I wonder if the nutrient tablets contain ALL the nutrients the plant needs or just MOST? The light bulb must be replaced every 6 months (or they recommend it, anyways) and now my pump is starting to make grinding sounds (it's gonna die soon). So there is some upkeep required.

I really believe AeroGrow can turn things around, but that they will need to branch out and offer a wider range of products - interesting and stylish AeroGrow vases and pots for flowers, and larger AeroGrow units for those gardeners that want to grow a lot more! I know some gardeners would be willing to pay up to $1,000 or maybe even $2,000 for a really neat mid-size unit that would fit in a greenhouse or small room and grow a lot more food. Of course, it would have to be economical, which is the hard part.

  • AeroGrow Invents New Industry, Continues Sprouting [View article]
I actually have the stainless steel pro 100 aerogarden and it has worked well so far. I have not yet seen the Aerogarden 3, but I'll go check that out...
