I hold a PhD in the field of epidemiology a masters degree in public health. My undergraduate training is in policy, economics and the sciences. I have utilized my training in employment with government, academia, private industry and to further analyze the fundamentals and technicals of all manner of companies in different sectors. Specifically, I like to trade growth companies, REITS, biotechnology/ pharmaceuticals, precious metals, blue chips and small-cap companies.
Each market day I get up at 530 am and begin working/analyzing data before my day job. I focus much on current events, earnings, and developments. I also work after market hours to cover after hours developments or interesting action during the day. I aim to conduct 2 analysis per business day, which helps me stay focused on my own finances.
I have been investing for about 10 years. I also enjoy trading short expiration options, and investing in stocks with 3-20 year horizons. I enjoy writing with Seeking Alpha to share my opinion and analyses. I am a real estate investment consultant. In simple words, I try to assess whether a particular property investment is viable, given the economic and social factors in the subject area. In fact, I have a postgraduate degree (MSc) in Real Estate Investment and Finance awarded by Heriot Watt University of Edinburgh.
My initial (Bachelor's) degree was in the field of Urban Planning and Regional Development and it was awarded by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Right now, I own a newly founded and quite small company: PHAON engineering and real estate consulting. We undertake construction contracts, provide independent valuation and real estate consulting services and feasibility studies.
My first encounter with the stock exchanges was in 2007. Since then I have been driven by my love of the financial and real estate markets and trying to consistently outperform the major financial indices and reinvest the capital gains.
My investment "childhood" was teared apart in 2012, when Laiki, a Cyprus bank, collapsed and lost some funds. Since then, I am trying not to repeat the same mistakes and to clear my investment path by researching before investing. It is within the context of this endeavour that I wrote my first articles here, in SA. And it is within the same context that I will continue to provide quality research to all of my readers.

I am an adjunct faculty member at the R. H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. With the help of my students I focus on fundamental equity research, reviewing over 120 companies a year. This site is used to publish a sampling of the research we produce. The goal is to give the students an opportunity to participate in the production of high quality research similar to what will be demanded from them in industry. The methodology we employ was developed at Johns Hopkins under the direction of Prof. Steve Hanke. This approach is centered around the proprietary concept of Sustainable Free Cash Flow and deviates significantly from many of the popular valuation protocols. Most significantly, it treats the subject company as an on-going system that the stock price tracks. As a result, the process focuses on historical distributions of parameters that in combination, produce various levels of cash flow per share. The stock price is then compared to this output in order to ascertain its probable direction.
