Time to pick how SAN dividends are paid - paid in scrip avoids the 21% Spanish withholding.

    • slimmbrimm: which way u leaning, if dont mind me asking, 21% steep price for flexability of cash payment, having hard time making my mind up also?

    • Rubicon Associates: I am taking it in scrip. Don't need the cash and I still think the shares have value.

    • Rubicon Associates: There is the option to get the right and sell it on the market, gets around the 21% withholding but exposes you to price swings.

    • slimmbrimm: thanks for the reply, to give up 21% to Spain just seems wrong to do, also agree shares have some more room to run, prob wise to take scrip.

    • taharqa11: I chose to sell the rights on the market

    • Rubicon Associates: The only way to get cash without donating 21% to Spain.

    • Ocean Man: I had the same choices on TEF last month and took the scrip - no withholding.

    • taharqa11: For some reason I didn't get any notification regarding TEF which I also hold; next time I'll be more proactive

    • Ken Marinai: How do you notify them which option you prefer?

    • Rubicon Associates: I called the brokerage house and gave them instructions.

    • AlbionWood: Same here Mr Terry, been accumulating via scrip all along. Tempted to start buying again, too.

    • Rubicon Associates: I am going to dip my toes back in soon - just want to see if Europe can push it down a little lower. Even at these prices I am a buyer.

    • pgaines72: is being paid the dividend in scrip the same as dividend reinvestment?(drip)
      7/15/12
    • Rubicon Associates: essentially. You are receiving shares in lieu of cash and avoiding withholding.
