  • Our Natural Gas / Diesel Cost Comparison Chart Has Been Posted

To our web page - and can be seen at the link below.

Natural gas pricing comparison to diesel - November 2012

We are working on a full article for SA which will take a week or two - I just thought I would post the chart for those who have followed the analysis in the past.

We believe that now is the time to look for natural gas infrastructure investments in companies like:

KBR Incorporated (NYSE:KBR), Golar LNG (NASDAQ:GLNG), Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ:CLNE), Cheniere Energy (NYSEMKT:LNG), Westport Innovations (NASDAQ:WPRT) and Chart Industries (NASDAQ:GTLS) - to name just a few.

    Disclosure: I am long GTLS.

Additional disclosure: Our newsletter follows the natural gas area and we can be long any of the stocks mentioned at any time. The most up-to-date information can be found within our site noted in SA profile. This work is based on public filings, public events, interviews, corporate press releases, and what I have learned as financial journalists. It may contain errors and you shouldn't make any investment decision based solely on what you read here. It's your money and your responsibility.

  • Volvo Trucks To Introduce 13-L Natural Gas Engine Featuring Westport HPDI Technology
Check out our web site at RulingTheMarkets.comWestport Innovations, a natural gas engine provider, revealed that Volvo Trucks has announced plans to introduce a 13-L heavy-duty natural gas engine that will feature Westport high pressure direct injection (HPDI) technology.

The new product is slated to be introduced in the North America in the fiscal year 2014. Westport Innovations' Chief Executive Officer, David Demers commented that the company's collaboration with the Volvo Group is a significant product development program, which will address the growing demand for natural gas vehicles and engines in the heavy-duty market.

According to the terms of the deal announced by Westport Innovations on February 27, 2012, each partner will supply important resources and bear their own expenses. The program will be led by Westport Innovations. During the introduction of the product, Westport Innovations will deliver its HD system parts for a previously agreed quantity per engine like other such earlier announced agreements.

Westport Innovations offers proprietary solutions to enable engines to run using clean-burning fuels, which include hydrogen, liquefied natural gas, compressed natural gas, and renewable natural gas, which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The company provides sophisticated LNG fueling systems featuring direct injection natural gas engine technology for use in heavy-duty vehicles and off-road purposes such as rail and mining.

Cummins Westport, a joint venture between Cummins and Westport Innovations, offers spark-ignited natural gas engines for transit applications such as buses and trucks in North America. Westport LD division supplies liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas fuels for light-duty trucks, passenger cars, and industrial purposes such as forklifts.

    Disclosure: I am long WPRT.

  • There Will Be More Natural Gas Then Anyone Currently Has Estimated
My "investing in natural gas related companies" thesis is predicated on the continuation of low natural gas prices. The longer prices stay "cheap" the more opportunity infrastructure players have to build out the natural gas highway. My thesis would love to have natural gas prices near historical lows (current levels) for 5-10 more years. This will help Westport Innovations (WPRT), Chart Industries (GTLS), Fuel Systems (FSYS), Cheniere Energy (LNG) and Clean Energy Fuels (CLNE) just to mention a few.

This article from today gives further support to our natural gas related company "investment thesis".

    I quote

"The preliminary production for all the wells on the gas side is very high, .... Put another way, that well has 300 times more in daily production than the average well drilled vertically into the ground, said Rick Simmers, chief of ODNR's Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management."

That ONE well has 300 times more production - holy mackerel.

Disclosure: I am long WPRT, GTLS.
