In other words, we've doubled our size in less than two years, and at our current growth rate expect to double again in even less time. This is important for five reasons:

1. Seeking Alpha is one of the handful of new media startups which has built an outstandingly valuable product. Our goal is to help people invest better, by presenting them with valuable insight and information, allowing them to choose between different perspectives, and empowering them to discuss ideas with other smart investors. To do this, we combine financial content from a broad contributor base with oversight by a team of human editors. For one, due to regulatory concerns, sell-side analysts have no “skin in the game”. They can’t own the stocks they write about, and that makes a difference. It’s easy to keep recommending a falling stock as a “Buy” when you don’t feel the pain of the losses personally or have to explain them to the portfolio manager you work for. In addition, sell-side analysts are often forced to adopt a “house style” by the banks they work for. That makes their research reports more formulaic, less enjoyable to read, and less creative. And in many cases, SEC rules and compliance concerns crimp the ability of sell-side analysts to publish real-time, pithy research.

When I started Seeking Alpha in 2005, I envisioned a website for

I'm delighted to announce the promotion of Eli Hoffmann to the position of Editor in Chief and VP Content. Eli joined Seeking Alpha's editorial team in August 2006. As a Managing Editor, he drove the expansion of our news products, nurturing Wall Street Breakfast into the most popular one-page financial news summary on the web, and launching and developing Market Currents, our real-time market micro-blog, which in March hit almost 7 million page views.

Eli was promoted to VP Content at the beginning of January, taking responsibility for all of Seeking Alpha's editorial initiatives, and overseeing the team of editors who filter, select and publish our contributors' articles.
