  • Surviving And Prospering Over The Next 4 Years Of Economic Darkness [View article]
I disagree with the authors socialism equals stagflation implication. Part of the problem with lack of demand can be solved with socialism.
Many poor families can hardly afford little things in life. If their life is improved sectors such as computing, automobiles and productivity can all be improved.

Redistribution of wealth is a great goal but bureaucracy is not.
Too much wealth in too few hands eventually leads to stagnation and no growth.
The hard part is how to achieve this with minimal red tape and capital flight.

  • The Surface RT Is An Innovative Trojan - Microsoft Moves In Adjacent Markets [View article]
Did you read my article? I did mention surface sales in Q4 2012 have disappointed. If you bother to read it (sorry it was a long article) you see the point I am making. Microsoft is about Corporate IT. You are judging as a consumer. Hence I get a good deal on my shares.

  • Apple: Don't Follow The Herd [View article]
long term ashraf is right but for a shorter term 10% i am thinking of adding to my apple position. I visited an apple store and although i bought nothing , i now understand why Apple hardware margins defy gravity. It was not a store, it looked like a modern art gallary. Apple is selling electronic art! The first thing i asked in the apple store : where is the checkout till? Only art can be priced significantly above its intrinsic value. The geek in me never realised this.

  • Microsoft: Abandon Ship Before It Sinks [View article]
You seem to be lost. The surface pro is for those looking to get a laptop that can be used on the sofa as a tablet. It is a laptop first, not a tablet. Thus it does not compete with the IPad. The surface rt's problem is one of pricing.
Once it drops it will sell much more.

  • Short Gold For The Long Haul [View article]
Clearly a lot of BS in this article. Good luck to those who believe in this.
Short term gold may drop, but long term it is in a rising trend.
Similar to how the stock market dropped in 2009 only to recover. Big drops are buying opportunities for long term holders.

Fundamentally none of the economic issues that plague developed nations has been solved. Until then fiat currency also know as a number in a computer screen, is just .... worthless!!
My advice is to keep assets in stocks, property, gold and other precious metals. These are real and will not implode.

You know what $ is? It is a number in a US regulated bank.
    - Aging population
    - QE
    - Stagnating economies
    - Limited resources (indefinite growth impossible)

There is still a need for a worldwide acceptable way to store portable wealth. If its not Gold, it will be platinum or oil, but fiat currency is not it.

  • Will Nokia's New Lumia Phones Live Up To Investor Hopes And Hype? [View article]
Disappointed, you had no new information or attempt at checking the facts. The title was novell, the content not. unfortunately while I agree Nokia has run up too fast, i feel the tone of this is sour grapes. You are a blind Apple fan if you do not see innovation in the Lumia 920. I will be honest, I think the iPhone is prettier and has more apps. That is it.

  • Surface RT is "on track to join Zune and the Kin in the great consumer electronics discount rack in the sky," writes MKM's Israel Hernandez, as he cuts his FQ3 estimates for Microsoft (MSFT). He adds there's "mounting evidence that Windows 8 is failing to resuscitate flagging PC demand," and believes PC shipments will likely see 10%+ declines at least through 1H13. Also: the head of Samsung's memory chip ops recently declared Windows 8 to be no better than Vista. [View news story]
Its the fastest Windows OS there ever was Window-C and Window-Q keys solved my issue which was the Start-Search bar which was now not visible.
Its amazing, the speed alone made me upgrade every single Laptop in our household. For desktops it is not a must have, but its good.

  • Android Vs. Windows Phone: Monetization Of Mobile Market Share, Part I [View article]
Yes because Microsoft does not need WP8 to be spectacular success to continue to be profitable. They don't need Bing either.
But I have both android ios and wp8. Wozniak is right, Jobs was reborn at Microsoft. They are simply the most innovative and they have a finger in every pie. Lower risk implies lower return. MSFT is not doubling in market value anytime soon, but it has little downside.

  • Google: With Or Without The 'X-Phone' Has A More Sustainable Business Model Than Apple [View article]
Interesting my analysis came to the inverse conclusion.
I am hoping once it is published it will attract your comments.
I ask more questions than most people.
Show me how android benefits Google outside of the play store sales ?
Google earns money from ios as much as from android.

  • But Mr. Ackman, Herbalife Is A Sustainable Pyramid Scheme [View article]
I was a distributor when i was a student. This is the most accurate representation of herbalife that i have read. In my note to helix, i said there will be enough suckers to keep herbalife going for a long time.
i saw through the scheme. I feel sorry for the lonely pensioner who introduced me. She spent a year to sell 2000 worth of product. A minimum wage job would have been more profitable.

Herbalife had made a mistake in recruiting a colledge educated guy.

Without an FTC order forcing retail sales as opposed to sucking vulnerable entrepreneurs, herbalife will be profitable. But like all things, scenario number 3 is inevitable.
Herbalife should never have gone public.

  • Investing In Gold: Is A Bubble Popping? [View article]
Gold is world reserve currency, and unless you close your eyes, non of the modern fiat currencies are trouble free. They are all hostage to the whims of governments, politicians and bankers.

Long term trend is a return to the Gold World Standard.

If it does happen, there is not enough gold to allow everyone to own a single coin.

(in middle ages all international trade was in Gold)

This is almost guaranteed to happen when no economy is safe.
