  • 3 Gold Miners To Avoid Right Now [View article]
I get your points about insider buying, but I disagree with your claim that the lawsuits having nothing to do with the decline. How else can you explain why all three of the companies involved have gone down while the rest of the miners have surged higher?

  • Upgrading DryShips To Neutral From A Sell [View article]
the only reason to invest would be the prospect of a turn in dry bulk rates. With everyone in the industry losing money, eventually capacity will be cut to a level that forces prices higher. Of course, we don't know how long that will take but it will eventually happen. After that, at some point, demand will increase causing dry bulk rates to surge. Shipping companies that are still around for that will make a fortune. Like you said, the question is will these companies be able to ride out the current environment. As to your other idea, I think you make good point about the advantages of starting a new company. The problem is that ships that are being sold are mostly older ships that are less efficient. Most ships that are being sold today are going to scrap yards, not other shipping companies.

I understand and tend to agree with your thoughts on Economou, but I don't know how critical we can really be of the guy considering the rest of the shipping companies have not done any better than DRYS. Actually, the decision to diversify into the oil drilling business was a major positive for DRYS and its shareholders.

  • Procter & Gamble CEO Sells $8.7 Million In Stock; Investors Should Not Worry [View article]
    Hi all,

    just a quick update

as mentioned above, the stock sale was, in fact, part of a larger transaction where McDonald exercised options. So now we can say there is no reason to worry over the sale.

  • 3 Reasons Why Chevron Can Continue To Rally [View article]
hard to say, I don't really like price targets because I think the fundamentals are always changing and always need evaluated at different price levels. If the stock goes to 130 based on no major changes, then it might be time to sell. However, if CVX goes to 130 because oil prices are soaring then it might not be time to sell CVX. All depends on the current situation.

  • Coinstar Plunges Following Earnings: Stock Remains A Sell [View article]
The source I was using was the associated press...

    http://nbcnews.to/P7gayF

They have since "corrected" their article stating that the street had been looking for $4.79 not $4.97. In any event, the bottom line is that wall street did not like the quarter and guidance and the stock sold off.

  • Trades For The Approaching Euro Strength [View article]
you say that the ECB is more motivated to act now but that is actually negative for the euro not positive.... LTRO, interest rate cuts, bond buying, and deposit rate cuts have all led to another round of euro selling. Why would any future action by the ECB lead to a higher euro. Essentially, the only thing the ECB can do will hurt the euro, not help it. In my opinion, the only ways for the euro to rally would be weak nations exiting the euro or "more europe" in the form of eurobonds.

  • Southwest Airlines: A Terrible Trading Session [View article]
Well, firstly, I had been bullish on the sector for a while. I wrote positive articles on US Air, JetBlue, and United Continental... In my most recent post on US Air, I said I would take profits as the stock has nearly doubled since I first talked about the stock. Also, oil prices have gone up more than $10 per barrel while the airlines have not gone down much. I think an AMR US Air merger would be good for the industry, but it might already be priced in.
