  • 5 Gold Stocks That Could Tank On Higher Inflation [View article]
I simply do not agree that higher inflation will be a negative for gold miners. Inflation makes costs higher for all businesses, and I admit that although the costs will be higher for the miners, the price of gold is highly coorelated to inflation. Thus the higher the rate of inflation the higher the price of gold. This might be very very bullish for gold miners. The elasticity of change for gold is higher than costs for increased inflation in my opinion. Therefore I believe that inflation, QE3 possibly, and currency devaluation (USD) will be the factors which influece the price of gold.

Thanks for illustrating how some of the games are available directly through sony / msft. Do you know as a % what % of the games are available through electronic download. I was under the impression that most games still had to be physically purchased.... If not that is a game changer (no pun intended)

  • Why Kinross Is A Long-Term Winner [View article]
It will be interesting to watch this story develop further. It seems early to pass judgement. I would argue that the results of Tasiast will determine if the representations about the mine were misleading, fraudulent, or maybe mistaken..... I think that the results will tell us more than the lawyers!

the problems with regards to a perceived lacking R+D pipeline doesn't negate the fact that the owners of the business should be paid some of the huge amount of cash in the bank!

you are right that the stock is cheap.... therefore getting cheaper probably wont provide incentive to increase demand for shares. as such if the company bought back shares and increased EPS the argument would still be no future... pay investors to wait and they will stick around.

Great article...... Suncor is a titan... would you concur however that the future of suncor is directly related to that of the sucess of the oil sands? Where do you see this company in 5 years?

Do you prefer SU to XOM and the others?

  • Why Kinross Is A Long-Term Winner [View article]
Possible Risks for investing in Kinross include:

    1) Significant Decrease in Price of Gold:
    2) Increasing Costs:
Because gold mining operations require substantial sums of water, and there is a shortage of water in west Africa which is where Tasiast is located, presents risks of higher costs

    3) Law Suit: As a BA in law with a concentration in business law I feel qualified to suggest that the class action law suit will not succeed. I see no evidence that management did anything to breach their fiduciary duty to shareholders. Adverse economic conditions and a higher closing value to a deal isn't enough. A lagging share price doesn't mean sue the company, it means buy the company in my opinion.

    4) Euro: gold has been mirroring the Euro if you look on any graph for some time. As the Euro has been depreciating relative to the US dollar, this dollar appreciation causes gold to fall in the short term. * If a European contaign like scenario occurs with Euro zone members at risk of default a major sell off of the Euro would cause Gold and Kinross to depreciate in the short term until the FX market recovers form any shock.

    5) General Operational Risks in the Mining Industry

    6) Geopolitical Risk

    7) * Rise in oil prices

    - hope this helps.

  • Greece Will Cause Gold To Appreciate [View article]

Greece wants creditors who hold 90pc or more of the debt to agree. If take-up falls below that but exceeds 75pc, it is expected to force losses on those who do not willingly sign up, known as collective action clauses (CACs).

Below that level, the deal could be off, potentially plunging the eurozone back into crisis. http://tgr.ph/xQNs5g
