      <title>The Keystone XL Pipeline Has A Good Chance Of Eventually Being Approved, Here's Why</title>

        <![CDATA[<p>Very rarely do I side with <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz_UHOeouTM" rel="nofollow">Newt Gingrich</a>, however in the case of TransCanada Corp. (<a href='http://seekingalpha.com/symbol/trp' title='TransCanada Corporation'>TRP</a>) and its pipeline proposal I'm inclined to agree with him.</p> <p>The project would provide an immediate infusion of jobs that can't be taken for granted given that <a href="http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2011/07/25/unemployment-job-skills-training/" rel="nofollow">1 in 5</a> men are unemployed, up from 7% in 1970. The project would create <a href="http://www.thestar.com/business/article/1113126" rel="nofollow">20,000</a> American jobs specifically catering to those in the construction industry. As of December 2011, the construction unemployment rate remained <a href="http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf" rel="nofollow">unchanged</a> despite an overall decline of 0.6% since August. What makes the rejection highly questionable is that the project is in the <a href="http://files.jobs-council.com/files/2012/01/JobsCouncil_2011YearEndReportWeb.pdf" rel="nofollow">national</a> interest of the country meaning that President Obama might not even have the <a href="http://www.worldmag.com/webextra/19084" rel="nofollow">authority</a> to block it.</p> <p>The pipeline would reinforce Houston's position as the <a href="http://m.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/industry-news/energy-and-resources/enbridge-buys-50-of-seaway-pipeline/article2237941/?service=mobile" rel="nofollow">largest</a> refinery complex in the world by boosting throughput at a time when oil rigs in the</p>         ]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Research in Motion (NASDAQ: <a href="http://seekingalpha.com/symbol/rimm">RIMM</a>) has fallen from first among Canadian companies in terms of market capitalization to <a href="http://investdb1.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/GAM.20111217.RBRIMOUTLOOKMARLOWATL/GIStory/" rel="nofollow">57th</a> at just over $7 billion.  Quarterly, BlackBerry sales remain as high as they've ever been begging the question, is the fall the result of a fundamental problem or just bad public relations?  Mike Lazaridis <a href="http://investdb1.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/GAM.20111217.RBRIMOUTLOOKMARLOWATL/GIStory/" rel="nofollow">once said</a> "maybe we're just not good at promoting ourselves, maybe that's the Canadian way" to which I say "yes and no".</p> <p>Much of the negativity surrounding the company seems to stem from a slightly negative earnings <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/rim-shares-plunge-lowered-earnings-outlook-201529316.html" rel="nofollow">outlook</a>, but is that really fair?  The latest report on revenue is <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/12/15/rim-shares-q3-report_n_1152273.html" rel="nofollow">in line</a> with expectations and the company is still a cash cow with $579 million in reported profit since May 28.  In fact, RIM has yet to earn less than <a href="http://business.financialpost.com/2011/12/16/rim-shares-dive-to-eight-year-low/" rel="nofollow">$265 million</a> in a quarter and that's meaningful considering key competitor Nokia</p>         ]]>
