  • Google Can Sink Amazon With Same-Day Shipping [View article]
Look, the 'free' aspect is no joke- it enhances early feedback and is great for the PR effort.

I'm an Amazon shopper, but I have no problem being lured into Google Shopping Express with free shipping-- in the beginning. After that, if their service is better than Amazon, I'll stay; its as simple as that.

  • Google Can Sink Amazon With Same-Day Shipping [View article]
All it takes is one incident of harrassment for the entire operation to be marred...think of all the sick/criminal minded people who are likely excited at the prospect of a stranger opening their door for them.....

It reminds me of when eBay purchased Skype and expected buyers and sellers to embrace the idea of chatting, to make it more efficient. Of course, it flopped, because strangers did not want to talk with strangers. For better or for worse, we are an awkward, discerning society, and crowdsourcing shipping could never work, in my opinion.

  • Vringo's Billion-Dollar Win At Hand [View article]
The stock already went to down to 2. And the "pyrrhic victory" against Google was priced in when VRNG dropped after the win, and the case can only get better for Vringo at this point (in all likelihood)

Agreed- Having Microsoft walk into the room and take a look around Vringo headquarters with Google watching closely definitely heats things up.

  • 4 Major Signs: Dow Will Soar To 15,000 [View article]
Nice analysis, but the lack of jobs out there feels like the ultimate reason that the DIJA won't surge past 14,500.

Your optimism on jobs seems to steeped in a real estate recovery which hasn't happened yet, despite ppl saying is around the corner...I'd agree that real estate is bound to recover, but i worry about another mini fallback.

  • Patent Indicates Yahoo Hasn't Forgotten Search [View article]
I'm a fan of Archive's site, but I doubt it would do much in the way of helping Yahoo's search dreams. I think it comes down to the search algorithm, execution, and simplicity. You're probably right about Google's overtinkering of late.

In regard to your comment that there is too much going on at Yahoo's site... where would they be without that content? That content is what's keeping them alive and humming as a top 5 traffic'd website right now. You might be right, but again, its a necessary part of their network/"portal" and could be a double edged sword- a sword that they cannot live without for the foreseeable future.

  • Sony Might Defeat Google Glass [View article]
Great find... In theory the legislation makes sense... you don't want drivers perusing facebook while driving, however I'm sure there are helpful elements such as gps that drivers would need for driving.

It's going to be messy, that's for sure.

Though Yahoo is considered a shell of its former self, the sum of its parts still presents a formidable web presence, as you indicate.

I think militaries and schools could find uses, but agreed, on a personal level I'm not convinced yet

  • Vringo May Be Vetting A Buyer [View article]
I really don't see MSFT wanting to get into the business of patent litigation, and running all over the globe chasing tech giants. More likely they strike a licensing deal than a full buyout, if anything.

  • Wal-Mart And Hurricanes - What To Do? [View article]
Agree on most points. Sure, Walmart is too much mature a company for their to be much movement, and the numbers I pointed out above in regard to Walmart's hurricane performance don't really have much sway. The thing about Generac was that people seemed to underestimate Sandy, which in turn meant that Generac wasn't taken seriously until a serious amount of people started to lose power. I think GNRC is a buy less so because of poorer government services but more so because fear. Con Ed will always fix the electricity. Although I suppose time/waiting periods is part of the fear.
