  • BlackBerry Down 5% On Morgan Stanley Downgrade - Gift Of A Dip? [View article]
    Randal James,

Analysts expect revenue of $3.8B in FY16, not SE. Morgan Stanley implies BlackBerry won't get there. SE thinks they will and has his money in the name. Now how is that bullish?

The convo won't be finalized until [i] CEOC is placed into bankruptcy and [ii] and a decision is made about 2nd lien bondholders.

    Randal James,

Because the Shock Exchange is long BlackBerry, that doesn't mean the articles are bullish. Where in this article does SE sound bullish. He lays out [i] 50% decline in service revenue [ii] software revenue to double and [iii] the handset bogey. Is this "matter of fact" or "bullish?"

    Stooge,

How else would you look at this downgrade if not for "handset bogey." Is the analyst concerned only about software and messenger revenue or total revenue?

    kr6420,

Thanks for the kind words. Analysts have a right to be concerned about FY16 revenue after the service revenue declines. The Shock Exchange just tried to triangulate around what BlackBerry needs to do in order to meet FY16P. If you believe BBRY can hit the $2.45B handset revenue bogey then the stock is a buy.

    I wouldn't do anything ahead of earnings. I think long-term it's a sell though.

    JBG,

CACQ has received assets from CZR that CZR creditors say belong to them - this goes back to the "fraudulent conveyance" argument from before. If creditors can get those deals unwound or if the market looks askance on CACQ's management that stock could fall also.

    JBG,

I think the U.S. economy is worse than people think. QE ending will impact big ticket items like auto sales and housing starts. Lagging auto sales would hurt SIRI. When the overall market gets punished - and it will - most stocks will fall, including SIRI. I just do not like stocks in general.

I am long BBRY, Gilead (GILD) on its Hep C treatment.

  • Why 15% Of BlackBerry Is Worth The Entire Market Capitalization [View article]
    Brian,

Your points are valid. If BlackBerry was a start-up it would trade at multiples of where it currently trades. Thanks for incorporating the Shock Exchange's articles in your analysis.
