  • No Such Thing As Free Checking: The Next Wave? [View article]
Look at southwest as an example of an airline that is run well. No baggage fees and they make money and have happy customers. More on that in my next article.

You might not care but millions of people hit with new fees will care. They might not lose them now but over the long run they will

I guess customers are all shouting because like me they are used to free basic checking without hoops to jump through for at least the last decade. Sudden new fees all because banks were badly mismanaged through the housing boom/crash are not welcome.

I highly doubt new regulation is the sole motivator for fees. As I said, banks need to get creative, cut costs, partner with each other and provide better products. If they want to charge, do something new, add services worth paying for.

You missed the part where I said I'm leaving. If you read the previous article, you'll also discover that I'm moving to Fidelity.

Also I don't need to start my own bank just yet. There are plenty of excellent options.

  • Does Bank Of America Get It? [View article]
All the complex packaging of loans and giving money to anybody who walks in was their own fault. I'm not paying them more money for checking so that they can fix other unrelated problems largely of their own doing.

I saw that and I just wrote another article about them with a little more opinion. Hopefully it'll get posted in a day or so.

  • The New iPad Event Rundown [View article]
I agree. A normal apple announcement generally has a lot of expected features left out. This one has everything rumored. I guess some people are just complainers.

You are comparing a tablet for a different market. The blackberry playbook is a 7" tablet, not even 720P, has few apps and is more a competitor for the Kindle Fire than the iPad. Where are the competing 10" tablets meant for the general home user?

I own no iproducts but this iPad is ahead of all the other ones out there. By the time the next one comes out there will be others with equivalent specs but so far there is nothing comparable. You might want to link to some better ones if you think they exist.

  • The 'Resolutionary' New iPad: A Disappointment? [View article]
That's too much to include in one generation. What will they do for the next iPad if everything known goes into this one. Apple is still shying away from things like NFC. AFAIK, they are never the first to use anything unless it is something they do in-house.

What do you mean price increase? Apple has been good about keeping the prices of the new generation the same as the last generation. I agree on the iPad 2 price though. That is high but to be expected from Apple

What was disappointing? The iPhone 4S was disappointing. It got almost nothing new. This on the other hand leapfrogged every other tablet on the market specs wise - My take: http://seekingalpha.co...
