  • Apple: Why Do The Bears Get It Wrong? [View article]
Don't forget - part of a runup can be those short's stops triggering fueling the momentum upwards. Unfortunately , there's no transparency in the market that I know of that divulges that detail. If one wants to establish their "bullish" position, they must take into account risk right up front via a position sizing calculator. That's the first step. Then, just stay aware of the changes in the risk profile and take protective actions (hedging, exiting) when the market is telling you that risk has increased to a point of probable decline. When studies have shown that market leaders fall 72% from their highs, its prudent to do so.

Indeed on the analysts front. We've examined the stock movements that are occurring before the analysts come out saw with say a revision in their forecast or a change to a hold or sell, wondering if the chinese wall the industry has tried to create truly does exist. Its pretty suspect. Needs to be more transparency.

That's why Starmine came to be. To analyze the analysts! Too bad they removed the public portal when TR bought them up to focus on selling their performance analysis back to the analyst firms.

Fundamental speculations will drive movement but one can put probabilities on their side as to technical nature of those movements. Like getting out on 9/6/12 at $667.. and for those that didn't, they have an opportunity cost they should factor into their performance.

Market right? Market wrong? There is no "right" or "wrong" anymore in the market. So "Buyer Beware". Risk will forever be changing. There is no "efficient market " at work. Recognize that and stay alert to "risk" elevations.

  • Apple: Don't Panic, This Is An Opportunity [View article]
You can't ignore the traders. Unless of course you just don't mind the drops. But wouldn't it be smarter if you are going to stay married to a stock, to have some hedges in place so that if you don't want exit, you can potentially leverage a downturn? A $41 drop in AAPL could have provided a decent outcome even if long.

good commentary. So if one decides to invest, they can feel more confident in their decision if they stay aware of the ever-changing risk state and take action when they need to protect the position. Also, it is highly advisable that a position sizing calculator be used in determining the number of shares to purchase as AAPL's individual risk must be factored in.
