@bart - I accept that the cheap Android tablets have a minor market share but their growth rate is quite high. I am increasingly seeing people buy these cheap tablets. Many of them will never be able to afford a $700 PC/laptop. As you can see with Apple sales, they have saturated the developed premium segment market. The incremental growth will only come from low income emerging markets. Android phones and tablets are meeting this need. Price is the most important factor here ( the design, the build quality, quad core, high resolution does not count)

haswell will probably not suit the power performance profile of an Ipad. Intel will come out with a new lower end processors Bay trail at the end of the year which will be specifically target tablets.

I don't think Intel and MSFT are catching up. Both companies generate a monstrous amount of free cash flow each year. Only their stock multiples have gone down.

1) Would like to own some but buying foreign shares is not that easy (transaction costs etc.)
2) Intel processors are not used extensively in tablets and smartphones. I think Inte's market share in tablet and smartphones is less than 1% compared to the 85% share in PC
3) Intel is returning around !$10 billion in buybacks and dividends each year. , I am happy enough with the ~4% now and think that Intel can increase it steadily if it manages to execute on its roadmap
