  • Why BlackBerry Urgently Needs A Buyer Or Partner [View article]
    I am not sure whether Apple will be able to fully utilize BBRY assets. I don't think it will want to maintain two operating systems and will jettison BB 10. It will find the enterprise technology such as BES useful but most of BBRY software/hardware will be wasted. On the other hand smartphone companies such as Samsung who don't have a good OS will find much more value in BBRY.

  • With Haswell Faltering, Baytrail Is Make Or Break For Intel [View article]
    @Michael - It is early days for Haswell, but I have not seen any devices which are using Haswell capabilities/ advertising it too well except for Macbook Air. PC vendors are crucial for Haswell's success and till now their response is less than enthusiastic.

  • SunPower - Time To Take Some Profits Off The Table [View article]
    @vlc - i don't want to get into a slanging match

    a) spwr is also bleeding money, cash flows are negative in the last 3 years
    b) buffeet invesments in green energy are hardly inspiring . byd is probably the worst green investment in the world
    c) sunpower makes higher efficiency panels but efficiency adjusted cost per watt of spwr is higher . check spwr presentations
    d) spwr has got zero presence in china like fslr. these guys are not cost competeitive enough in the tough low priced chinese market.

  • SunPower - Time To Take Some Profits Off The Table [View article]
    @vlnc - i just wanted to point out there are better alternatives now. if you already own the shares then you should take some profits

    sunpower has no presence in china nor in gulf and very litte in SA. whats good for buffett may not compete in china .

    saying that yingli or trina don't make high quality panels is erroneous...... sunpower buys the same poly and same wafers as others. they don't have any secret sauce. high efficiency is good but their costs are higher. I am yet to see a solar plant with a better return with spwr panels

    global overcapaccity - what does noggin mean.... selling out 1 qtr does not mean that global overcapacity has gone... have you tracked how many lines spwr has closed down last year. sunpower is not bankrupt due to total backing or they would be in q-cells position now. plain luck helped them in the past

    I am not disparaging sunpower. I thought it was a good buy . now I think you should take your profits.

  • Intel To Make Atom The Core Of Its New Strategy [View article]
    From what I know ZTE is a top 5 smartphone maker and Asus is the 3rd largest tablet seller. Lenovo would not be selling its flagship using an outdated chip while selling lower end phones using ARM chips... But who knows
