  • TheStreet +7.6%; activist discloses stake, takes aim at Cramer [View news story]
While I agree with Cannell's observation and thesis, I believe that saying the stock price was $70 in this context is a bit overstated. It was over $70 for a few minutes on its IPO day. It was never a $70 stock or even the $15 price it reached before the last recession...

  • Saudi expects oil to stabilize near $60/bbl, crude oil loses early gains [View news story]
I am glad to see that the oil bubble has popped... At least momentarily. First silver and gold three years ago and now oil.

  • ADP Jobs Report [View news story]
Exactly. More online shopping means more warehouse and delivery jobs. They pay is similar from warehouse employees to retail store employees as well.

  • Pimco has bled over $100B this year [View news story]
The money will come back if PIMCO proves to be the best money managers over the next few years. Gross leaving simply gave investors a chance to reconsider a switch after holding the same fund for a very long time.

  • WSJ: GoPro plans to launch consumer drone line [View news story]
That is an interesting idea. Not sure how much shareholder value a niche market like drones will provide, but if the market lauds the idea then it must be great! I think the money would be better spent on engineering and creating a specialized camera to sell to the drone manufacturers.

  • Gundlach: Boxed-in Fed has to hike rates in 2015 [View news story]
Unfortunately for Japan, all they've done is lower rates the last 25-30 years and inflation has remained low in tune with the low rates. And all the while debt has shot to the moon. Increasing rates would hurt the economy in the short term, but the long term positives outweigh those short term shocks. Or Japan could just keep doing the same thing forever. After all, if it doesn't work for 25 years, maybe it will eventually.

  • Gundlach: Boxed-in Fed has to hike rates in 2015 [View news story]
From a different viewpoint... The Fed should want rate hikes. Inflation will follow rate hikes and higher inflation decreases govt debt.

...A buyout to take it private. Twitter has zero real value for shareholders and should be off the exchange.

  • China cuts interest rates as economy slows [View news story]
We've been privileged to have such strong growth over the last few decades. Over the next 50 years we will average 1% global growth. As we move into that "norm" we should expect to see some consequences such as the situations in Japan and Europe.

  • Global drug tab will breach trillion dollar mark this year [View news story]
It is good to see the numbers, but you don't need numbers to figure out that with an aging population healthcare and pharma stocks should be bought at every good entry point.

  • Eye-popping pay at Pimco [View news story]
If you have a problem with it, go start your own investment management company (or any business) and 40 years from now if you make all the right decisions you can make that much money as well.

  • Keystone XL vote near, but economic viability thrown into question [View news story]
I find it hard to believe it would cost $85-$110 to produce. This would mean that when the project was first conjured up that they were willing to do the project with no margin...

  • Twitter now +7.2%; aggressive targets set, more features outlined [View news story]
Well, it simply means that the stock is valued 5x its 2018 revenue. Key word here is revenue. It's supposed to be earnings since stocks are valued based on earnings (unless its AMZN...). I'm not going to figure out what TWTR's earnings (EPS) would be in 2018 under $5b in revenue, but I suspect it will still be negative (hint: maybe one of the SA contributors can do the math and write about it?). So, if buying a stock that is valued 5x its 2018 revenue tickles your fancy, then take the plunge!!
