  • Goldman sees four rate hikes over next year [View news story]
Goldman's fears of hindering the housing market are a non-issue. Yes, the housing market may weaken, but we should try to prevent bubbles not exacerbate them... Increasing rates will naturally push down any bubbling issues (e.g. equity markets...). This will help us avoid extreme collapses like we all remember well. I'd love to end 2016 with a ffr of 1%.

  • Big reversal on oil as Saudis sound ready to cooperate with OPEC [View news story]
And that is economics to a T. Smaller companies saw an overly profitable industry, they cleared the barriers to entry and levered up to maximize their returns. The market became saturated and prices collapsed. Now these smaller levered firms will collapse (maybe not all...) and the market price of WTI will stabilize lower than the $120 ridiculousness but perhaps with an annual range of $65-$85. This won't happen overnight...

There is no price war at play here. It's simple economics.

  • Natural gas inventory builds [View news story]
There's a number of traders trading nat gas as if it's in backwardation. We know that's not the case but it's an interesting development.

  • Bullard: Time has come for rate hikes [View news story]
Any recession fears of raising rates are overblown. Especially a meager 25 bps; which will have almost zero effect on the economy. Yes, a recession is around the corner, (and arguments can be that we are closer to a trough than a peak...) but the next recession will not be anywhere near the magnitude of the previous recession. Rates need to normalize.

  • FOMC minutes: June rate hike not a slam dunk yet [View news story]
The raise will come in Q3. Always has and will happen. Europe's easy money policy will help to smooth out any possible short term consequences of a rate hike. The stars are aligning perfectly.

  • Job gains better-than-forecast in January [View news story]
That business startup/death rate chart is very interesting. Tighter restrictions on lending may be a contributor to that trend. Other contributors could be stagnate wages, lack of innovation and the margins on manufacturing make it profitless for a startup.

  • Job cuts highest in two years due to falling oil price [View news story]
Because oil did not fall because the economy is weak, then it must be the second option.

  • Jobless Claims jumps 11K to 278K [View news story]
It will take UE rate well under 5% before wages grow. Before that point employers do not have to fight over employees because there is an abundance of competent employees. When we reach this point, we will see the price of goods rise as consumer U increases slightly in line with their higher wages.

  • Moonshot for Shake Shack, plan B for Five Guys and Smashburger? [View news story]
This is why kids under 30 can't buy homes or pay off their student loans. They spend their money on completely moronic stocks and when they blow up they claim the system cheated.

  • FOMC: Still "patient," but rate hike remains on the way [View news story]
Rates are going up this year and the markets have priced it in. We live in an efficient market. Nobody is ever surprised... At least not the big money.

  • GoPro bounces as analysts dismiss Apple patent [View news story]
You should trust the analysts. However, you should always question the data they are given. If they receive bad data, they will make bad decisions. With regards to their interpretation of the patent documents, I am not a patent attorney so I will not even try, but I hope these analysts have some patent background or their attempt to interpret the documents are futile.

  • Bakken producers need $55 oil to keep production steady, regulator says [View news story]
Looks like the free market is telling us that the Bakken is NOT a wise place to drill. They gambled that oil prices would remain artificially inflated forever, and they lost the bet. Game over.
