  • Chevron's 5-Year Dividend Potential [View article]
CVX is actually the next position I plan to start.

However, I continue to ponder the potential result of all the new oil found here in the US via fracking. I fear that the large amount of supply that will be added to the world markets by the US will cause prices to fall as a result. This is obviously just an educated guess as it may take several years for the oil to reach the market. How will prices react to the surplus supply, will that supply be offset by the increase in demand in developing countries that are now gobbling up oil (China, etc.).

Would love others thoughts on this.

Great article, I will likely start a CVX position despite my reservations.

  • The Most Misleading Words In Investing: You Can't Go Broke Taking A Profit [View article]
    RN and Apache,

Since I participate in a State Pension as I work for State Government I tend to invest a little more aggressive in my ROTH IRA.

However, I certainly agree with your views that AAPL makes up a large chunk of my portfolio. Once the stock recovers (be it this year or next) I will slowly bring the size down and purchase some companies I've had my eye on (WMT, TGT, MCD when good entry points occur). Though I still believe that AAPL is the best DGI stock in the market right now based on valuation. Their recent decisions to buy back shares and increase the dividend by a good amount bought them some time with me.

Thanks for the input RN. AAPL makes up almost 70% of my DGI portfolio as I bought on the way down because I feel it could be a future PM or KO (at least for the next 5-10 yrs) but I also own PM and KO as well.

Patience will be rewarded, and I have held strong.

Avg. cost basis is 532 ish

I disagree, I think that CVX is the better value at this time and that while both will likely give us great returns. CVX will give us slightly better ones.

  • The Case For A 100% Dividend Stock Portfolio [View article]
Buffet is doing the same thing that Tim, myself and others are doing. He is investing his capital in companies that return part of their earnings to the investor. He then re-distributes those funds back into said companies or finds others to invest in. Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Buffet is just doing it at a larger scale then DGI individual investors but it is the same concept.
He just happens to own hundreds of thousands more shares in KO then I do.
